When I design for kids, the biggest mistake is using fixed furniture that they outgrow in two years. I focus on modular desk systems that can be adjusted or reconfigured as their needs change. Think of it as a workspace that evolves—your investment stays relevant from primary school through high school, saving you from constant renovations.
A study room isn't just about placing a table; it's about creating a habit. Lighting matters, especially for long hours of reading. I always install concealed profile lights or dedicated task lighting directly above the desk surface to prevent eye strain and glare on screens. For the build, I recommend 18mm commercial plywood with high-quality laminate finishes. These are durable, easy to wipe clean when markers or spills happen, and handle the daily wear and tear of a child's room well.
