From Vision to Reality: Our Interior Design Process
We believe the journey from a raw space to a finished home is where the real design happens. See how we guide you from initial sketches and mood boards to the final, lived-in result.
This was our initial mood board and sketch for the Quiet Ornate project. We envisioned deep rosé walls, a wallpapered ceiling, and a plush olive sofa to create a layered, moody vibe.
And here is the final result. It's so rewarding to see a design that feels relevant and true to the original vision, even after a long gestation period. We were lucky to piece it together just as we imagined.
The process begins with a blank canvas. This was the living area of the Quiet Ornate home in March 2024, a raw space full of potential, with the basic structure of the archway and staircase in place.
The finished dining area, looking towards the staircase. The transformation from a construction site to a warm, inviting home with layered lighting and textures is what our full-service design process is all about.
The living room of the Madras Home before we began. Our goal was to open up the space and bring in more natural light, which was blocked by the wall to the right.
The final living room in the Madras Home. Removing the wall that housed the old kitchen was a game-changer, flooding the space with light and creating a modern, elegant feel with an olive green sofa and classic moulding.
The original kitchen in the Madras Home was dark and dated. We saw an opportunity to completely reimagine the layout of the apartment by moving it.
About this collection
We believe the journey from a raw construction site to a finished home is where the real design happens. Our full-service process covers everything, from demolishing non-load-bearing walls to bring in natural light, to sourcing the perfect textures for your kitchen island. We act as the buffer between the technical chaos of the site and the final, serene home you envision, managing contractors and architectural changes so the process feels like a collaboration rather than a stressful project.
The Concept Phase
Design isn't just about the final photograph; it's about the hours spent on site, the adjustments made when a space doesn't behave as planned, and the dedication to getting the details right. We start by listening. Before we draw a single line, we want to understand your memories, your travels, and the feeling you want to come home to. We create mood boards and 3D renders that help you visualize the space, ensuring our vision aligns with your expectations long before work begins.
Navigating the Build
Construction is inherently messy. Our role is to navigate this 'March madness' for you. From knocking down walls to open up layouts in older apartments to complete electrical and plumbing overhauls, we take the weight of structural work off your shoulders. We are on-site to ensure the execution matches the design intent, whether it's installing custom woodwork, managing marble flooring, or coordinating specialty wall finishes like lime wash.
Final Layering
The final stage is where the 'vibe' happens. It is the styling, the art placement, and the addition of indoor plants that make a house feel lived-in and timeless. Our goal is to hand over a space that feels ready to grow with your family, designed for the long term rather than the latest trend. We are with you from the first sketch to the final cushion, ensuring your home feels truly yours.
