Suraj & Pooja's Destination Wedding at Alila Diwa, Goa
A look at how we managed a multi-day destination wedding in Goa, balancing rustic welcome vibes, tropical Haldi fun, and a high-energy emerald-green Sangeet.
The welcome ceremony for Suraj and Pooja was a rustic dream. We used earthy tones, autumnal flowers in terracotta pots, and traditional elements like the kalire ritual to create a warm, countryside charm for arriving guests.
A closer look at the rustic and warm decor for the welcome event. We used pampas grass and burnt orange florals in earthen vases, along with a personalized welcome sign to greet guests at the Alila Diwa, Goa.
The decor for the welcome and Mayra celebrations was filled with warm, autumnal hues. We combined traditional elements with modern boho flair to create a soulful and culturally rooted atmosphere.
For the Haldi, we switched to a vibrant, tropical theme. The entrance featured a custom welcome sign with colorful leaf motifs, and guests were greeted with showers of confetti and smoke bombs for a high-energy start.
The Haldi was designed to be fun and interactive. We set up various games from Gamology, like 'Disc Dash' and 'Balance Battle', to keep guests engaged and entertained throughout the celebration.
The Haldi decor was playful and fresh, with a hot pink and tropical color palette. We used large leaf-motif cutouts and floral arches to create a photo-worthy backdrop for the ceremony.
More fun from the Haldi ceremony. We organized unique games like 'Timber Tilt' and a colorful 'Balance Battle' to ensure guests were mingling and soaking in the festive spirit.
The couple's entry for the Haldi was a spectacle in itself. The wedding party, dressed in coordinated pastels, made their way through clouds of colored smoke, setting a fun and celebratory tone.
For the Sangeet, we transformed the ballroom at Alila Diwa Goa into a glamorous stage. The setup included a large performance stage, extensive lighting rigs, and a clear view for all guests to enjoy the show.
The Sangeet seating was a mix of plush emerald green sofas for a relaxed lounge feel and formal round tables. This layout ensured guest comfort while maintaining a sophisticated and glamorous look.
About A Royal Affair in Goa: The Wedding of Suraj & Pooja
Transforming a single venue like Alila Diwa for four distinct events requires more than just decor, it is about logistics. For Suraj and Pooja, we moved from the rustic, earthen-toned welcome ceremony, to a vibrant tropical Haldi, and finally a high-energy emerald-green Sangeet inside the ballroom, all while ensuring the guest flow remained seamless throughout the property.
Destination weddings often suffer from 'decor-only' planning where the logistics fail. At Alila Diwa, our work for Suraj and Pooja was focused on function just as much as form.
Designing the Flow
We treated the property as a canvas. The welcome ceremony relied on natural textures like pampas grass and terracotta to set a grounded tone, which we deliberately contrasted with the sharp, glamorous lighting and jewel-toned velvet furniture used for the Sangeet night. This contrast prevents the 'same-venue fatigue' that guests often feel at multi-day events.
Keeping Guests Engaged
For the Haldi, we moved beyond just flowers and colors. We integrated interactive elements like Gamology games, such as the Balance Battle and Disc Dash. When guests are occupied with activities, the energy stays up, and the wedding feels like a genuine celebration rather than a scheduled event they have to sit through.
The Reality of Goa Weddings
Planning in a coastal destination comes with specific challenges, from humidity management for floral setups to guest transportation logistics across the resort. My team handles these technicalities behind the scenes so the family doesn't have to deal with vendors or timeline slips. Whether it is an emerald-green theme or a rustic boho setup, the goal is always the same: you show up, you enjoy your days, and I handle the rest.

I don't just book a venue and walk away, I build the entire flow so you and your family can actually show up and enjoy the days instead of worrying about the next vendor call.
