Meet Maria: Our Founder and US-Certified Instructor
Meet Maria, the expert behind our swim curriculum. With a focus on water safety and early cognitive development, she brings US-standard training to every class.
Hear directly from our founder, Maria. In this video, she explains our teaching philosophy, the importance of consistent classes, and how early swim lessons contribute to brain development. Her passion and expertise are the driving force behind Water Town.
About Meet Our Founder, Maria
Maria isn't just an instructor; she’s the architect of our methodology. When you join, you are following a US-certified curriculum designed to move children from fear to independence—a transition we typically see emerge around the 18-session mark. It is about building a lifelong survival skill, not just teaching a stroke.
The Water Town Philosophy
My approach is rooted in the belief that the first 3,000 days of a child's life are the 'golden days,' where 85% of brain growth occurs. Swimming is not just a sport; it is a critical life skill that fosters vocabulary, cognitive development, and physical coordination. I bring the same US-standard training protocols to our Delhi classes that I use internationally.
Why Consistency Matters
Parents often ask about the pace of progress. My answer is always the same: consistency is everything. We see children gain the confidence to swim independently—even flipping over to breathe on their own—around 18 consistent sessions. Coming for a one-off class is rarely effective; to see real results, you need a structured, regular commitment.
Our Teaching Approach
We move away from 'deck-side' coaching. As a certified instructor, I believe in being in the water with your child. We use a play-based curriculum—songs like 'Humpty Dumpty,' simple games, and color-recognition exercises—to mask the intensity of the training. This keeps the experience fun while we subtly enforce safety rules. Whether you are looking for infant swim lessons or stroke correction, my team and I focus on one thing: replacing your fear with the joy of watching your child become a confident, safe swimmer.
Water Town
I'm Maria, and I started Water Town to bring safe, structured swim education to India. My job is to bridge that gap between a child's initial fear and their independence, using techniques that make safety feel like play.
