Woven Narratives: Textile & Fiber Art
We weave stories through fibers, blending raw materials like copper wire, hemp, and jute into sculptural forms that bridge tradition and contemporary expression.
A free-flowing woven sculpture from our 'Cu+Fibers' exhibition, created in our studio. This piece is a play of hand-spun and machine-made fibers like hemp, jute, and copper, manipulated and formed to catch the light.
A detail of 'Colony', a sculptural piece from the 'Cu+Fibers' show. We used crochet and other fiber art techniques to create these organic, nest-like forms from natural materials.
A view of our studio during the 'Cu+Fibers' exhibition. Hand-woven panels of jute and upcycled cotton hang alongside other sculptural forms, showcasing the aggregate of small discoveries made during our creative process.
A close-up of hand-crocheted hexagonal flowers from the 'Hope You're Well' installation. These tactile details, made with soft yarns, were central to creating a space focused on wellbeing and empathy.
The 'Goblin Mode' installation, a response to intense productivity culture. This view shows a totem-like sculpture covered in colorful crochet, part of a space designed for informal comfort and self-indulgence.
'A Piece of Earth', a textile artwork from our 'Cu+Fibers' exhibition. This piece uses kantha stitching and varied fiber textures to create a topographical map, abstracting a landscape into a tactile surface.
A wide view of the 'India Everywhere' installation, where hand-woven copper wire panels create a maze-like environment. The metallic sheen of the copper bridges tradition and industrial finishing.
A walkthrough of the 'India Everywhere' installation. The video captures the experience of moving through the gleaming river of hand-woven copper, with glimpses of other traditional craft objects that complete the narrative.
A curated view of the 'India Everywhere' space, showing a large installation of colorful lacquered wood objects from Channapatna. This piece stands in dialogue with the woven copper panels, representing India's diverse craft traditions.
A detail of our whimsical installation made from upcycled socks for the 'Goblin Mode' theme. We transformed everyday waste materials into a colorful, cocoon-like sculpture that expresses cozy indulgence.
About Woven Narratives: Textile & Fiber Art
Every woven piece we create is unique, requiring 4 to 6 weeks of dedicated craftsmanship to assemble. Before we begin the final production, we provide 6x6 inch material swatches, allowing you to touch and approve the interplay between the copper wire, natural fibers, and textures in person.
Our textile work begins not with a sketch, but with the material itself. In our Bangalore studio, we approach fiber as a medium for spatial storytelling, whether we are weaving copper wire into industrial-style screens or using hand-spun jute to form soft, organic installations.
The Material Dialogue
We believe that materials carry memory. Copper wire, often perceived as industrial, becomes malleable and warm when hand-woven, acting as a bridge between age-old textile traditions and modern, edgy interiors. Conversely, our use of hemp and upcycled cotton emphasizes a tactile return to the earth. When these materials intersect, they create a depth that flat surfaces cannot replicate.
Our Process
Each installation follows a rhythm of slow creation:
- Conceptual Development: We first define the narrative of the space, ensuring the piece resonates with the intended emotional landscape.
- Material Sampling: We create small-scale swatches to verify the color and tension before committing to the full-scale weave.
- Fabrication: Using both loom-based and off-loom macramé techniques, we construct the artwork. Every knot and fold is intentional.
We design for those who view a space as an emotional sanctuary rather than a functional container. Whether you require a statement wall panel or a large-scale immersive environment for a public space, our process remains grounded in the same philosophy: finding beauty in the slow, meditative, and experimental act of making.
