Conceptual and Futuristic Spatial Installations
We translate complex cultural narratives into physical, sensory environments that challenge the boundaries of contemporary design.
A video tour of the 'India Everywhere' installation. This piece explores India's global design presence through a mix of hand-woven copper textiles and displays of traditional crafts like Channapatna toys.
An abstract textile piece from our 'Sleep Sense' installation. The work uses layers of hand-stitched mul fabrics and felted wool to create a warm, womb-like space that alludes to a pure, stress-free sleep.
A detail of the layered fabrics in the 'Sleep Sense' installation. The backlit, deckled-edged panels feel like floating clouds, creating a soothing, dream-like experience for the viewer.
A sculptural totem from the 'Silver Escapade' installation. Its form is a mix of period-inspired ornate shapes and modern, clean lines, reflecting the theme of blurring time.
A delicate mobile from the 'Feel More' installation, featuring a collection of small, found, and crafted objects. This piece invites deeper exploration and transforms the experience into a meditative journey of discovery.
A curated display for the 'Into The Deep' theme. The scene includes sculptural objects, a cloud-like chandelier, and a custom garment, all designed to evoke the magical and mysterious landscape of the sea.
A close-up of the woven fabric from our 'Gothilicious' installation. The design is based on stylized tattoo art, meandering across the black surface to express mystery, complexity, and beauty.
Sculptural totems made from layered, cut paper for the 'Silver Escapade' installation. These forms stand on a mirrored floor, creating infinite reflections and a dream-like, illusory dimension.
Hand-stitched text on translucent fabric from the 'Sleep Sense' installation. The running stitch is reminiscent of traditional quilts (rajais), adding a layer of warmth and nostalgia to the piece.
A retro-futuristic photo gallery from our 'Indofuturism' installation. The wall is filled with AI-generated images that blend traditional Indian motifs with futuristic concepts, creating a surreal panorama.
About Conceptual & Futuristic Explorations
We begin by prototyping material interactions—testing how light reflects off a mirrored surface or how copper wire integrates with hand-woven textiles—to ensure our installations are structurally sound and narratively clear. This research phase is where we transform abstract themes, such as Indofuturism or contemporary Goth aesthetics, into the specific, immersive environments showcased here.
At Wari Watai, we view space as a canvas for storytelling rather than mere decoration. Our conceptual installations bridge the gap between traditional craft and future-facing technology. We do not design static backdrops; we build experiences that manipulate perception, atmosphere, and time.
For instance, our 'Silver Escapade' project utilized mirrored surfaces and sparse columns to create a temporal illusion, effectively blurring the lines between past and future. Similarly, our 'Indofuturism' work challenges the definition of tradition by juxtaposing AI-generated imagery with hand-embroidered textiles and tactile backdrops.
We work across India, transforming venues for exhibitions, brand launches, and events that require a high degree of conceptual depth. We prioritize the visceral feel of a space—the warmth of clay, the coolness of polished metal, and the calming effect of shadow play—ensuring that every viewer is not just an observer, but an active participant in the narrative. Whether we are interpreting a design forecast or constructing a dream-like room, our goal remains consistent: to create visual poetry that resonates on an emotional level.
