Indoor-Outdoor Home & Villa Designs
I design homes that actively breathe, blurring the lines between your living room and the landscape. Using central courtyards, natural ventilation, and honest materials, I create spaces that feel alive with light and air.
At the heart of Khair Villa is this green courtyard with a skylight. A freestanding washbasin for the dining area is set amidst the plants, turning a daily routine into a serene experience.
The living area at Kayanattath House features custom wooden seating and a decorative partition, with a direct view and access to the internal courtyard, blurring the line between indoors and out.
This view from the living room at Kayanattath House shows the seamless transition to the courtyard through large sliding glass doors, which feature a stone wall and a vibrant red jali screen.

Looking from the courtyard back into the living room of Kayanattath House, this image highlights how the design creates a true indoor-outdoor living experience.
The full living space at Kayanattath, where light from the window and the adjacent courtyard fills the room. The design uses minimal furniture to maintain a sense of openness.

About this collection
When I design these indoor-outdoor spaces, I focus on more than just the aesthetics. It is about how the house responds to the sun path and wind direction of your specific plot. That red jali brick wall you see in my gallery is not just for texture. It acts as a thermal buffer, letting fresh air circulate while filtering the harsh afternoon sun. It is a design choice that works as hard as it looks.
My approach to indoor-outdoor living begins long before the first wall is built. I conduct a detailed site analysis to map the sun path and prevailing wind directions, ensuring your home works with the climate rather than fighting it.
Integrating nature is not just about placing a few potted plants. It is about architectural planning. I incorporate central courtyards, like those at Khair Villa and Swasthi, which act as the lungs of the house. These spaces allow for cross-ventilation, pushing hot air out through skylights while pulling cool breezes into your living and dining areas.
I also prioritize the use of what I call materials with soul. You will see laterite stone, exposed brick, and solid wood in my projects because these materials age beautifully and maintain a thermal mass that keeps interiors cooler. Whether it is a glass sliding door that connects your bedroom to a private garden or a jali screen that creates dappled light patterns on your floor, every element is chosen to reconnect you with the outdoors. If you are looking to build a space that feels grounded, vibrant, and genuinely responsive to its environment, let’s talk about your site.

I'm Vinay, the person behind these designs. For me, architecture isn't just about walls. It is about making a space that breathes. Whether it’s a central courtyard in a Calicut villa or a sun-drenched living room in Bangalore, my goal is to blend your lifestyle with the natural elements around you.
