Our approach to this South Bangalore campus focuses on biophilic principles and honest materiality, creating a sanctuary where architecture facilitates community and learning.

The exterior view of the school highlights its spherical massing and the intricate terracotta screen. The curved form softens the building's scale, while the open ground floor invites movement and interaction, connecting the structure to its surroundings.

The central courtyard acts as the building's green heart, with multi-level balconies overlooking the garden. This application of biophilic design principles creates a calming and restorative environment for students and staff.

This close-up view emphasizes the textural quality of the terracotta jali screen against the smooth, curved wall. The careful articulation of materials is a signature of our practice, adding depth and character to the building's façade.

An early conceptual render of the project, envisioning a public plaza with stepped seating. This illustrates our design process, which prioritizes the creation of vibrant community spaces from the initial stages of development.

This render focuses on the interaction between the building's curved façade and the surrounding landscape. The design incorporates green elements at multiple levels, reinforcing the synergy between architecture and nature.

A view through one of the building's undercrofts, framing a landscaped pathway. This permeable ground floor enhances spatial fluidity and encourages exploration, making the journey through the campus an integral part of the architectural experience.

About South Bangalore School: A Study in Form and Materiality

The distinctive terracotta jali screen we implemented is not merely an aesthetic choice; it serves as a passive shading device that mitigates South Bangalore’s harsh sunlight while maintaining visual transparency. We engineered this vertical bonding pattern specifically to promote natural cross-ventilation, ensuring that every classroom remains thermally comfortable without relying exclusively on mechanical cooling systems.
