About Custom Portraits & Figurative Art
Getting a portrait on your hand requires more than just henna skills; it needs precise anatomy and shading. I don't just trace a reference image. I map out the facial proportions and shadows to ensure the figure looks realistic on your skin, whether it is a deity, a celebrity, or a custom bride-and-groom portrait.
Why Choose Figurative Mehendi
Unlike traditional mandalas or floral trails, portraits and figurative art are about storytelling. Many of my brides want their henna to reflect a specific connection, like the devotion of Radha-Krishna or the strength of Shiva-Parvati. Executing these requires a steady hand and a deep understanding of shading techniques to ensure the figure doesn't look distorted once the stain develops.
My Process
When you book a custom portrait design with me, we start by selecting the figures that matter to you. Whether it is a traditional doli scene representing your bridal journey, an intricate Ganpati figure for auspicious beginnings, or a custom portrait of you and your partner, I treat each as a piece of art.
- Anatomy: I focus on facial proportions—eyes, nose, and jawline—to make the figures recognizable.
- Shading: I use a mix of thick and thin lines to create depth, making the figures pop against the intricate background patterns.
- Placement: Portraits work best on flatter surfaces like the forearm or the upper palm. We will discuss placement during our consultation to ensure your design is visible and comfortable.
Booking Details
I offer these custom services for bridal bookings across the Mumbai and Palghar region, and I am available for destination weddings.
