Handmade Kutchi-Style Hair Accessories for Festive Looks
Traditional mirror-work accessories to complete your Navratri or Sangeet outfit, handmade by Urmila in Palghar.
This handmade hair bow is one of my favorite creations, perfect for Navratri, Garba, or a mehendi function. I've used traditional Kutchi embroidery with intricate mirror work, shells, and pearls to create a piece that adds instant festive energy to your hairstyle. The long, colorful tails are designed to move with you as you dance.
About Kutchi-Style Hair Accessories
If you are worried about your hair accessory sliding off while you dance, do not worry. I use alligator clips and heavy-duty bands that grip firmly. Whether you have thin or thick hair, these bows stay in place through an entire Garba session without you needing to fix them every five minutes.
My approach to these accessories is the same as my mehendi art, it is all about the detail. Every Kutchi-style bow you see is crafted using traditional geometric embroidery patterns, real mirrors, and cowrie shells that catch the light when you move. I use a cotton or rayon blend base for the bows, which keeps them lightweight despite the heavy look.
Why these work for festive events
Whether you are getting ready for Navratri, a sangeet night, or a college fest, these pieces are designed for comfort.
- Material: I use cotton fabric because it does not irritate your skin or scalp, even if you are wearing them for hours in the heat.
- Durability: The mirror work and shells are securely attached. I know how rough festive dancing can get, so I make sure the stitching is reinforced.
- Style: These are not mass-produced items. You might see similar designs elsewhere, but the specific combination of threads and mirror placement on my pieces is unique to the work I do.
How to style them
These hair bows pair perfectly with the embroidered waist belts and mirror-work chokers I also make. If you are going for a full traditional Kutchi look, I recommend mixing the bold neon colors like pink or yellow with a simple black or white outfit to make the accessories stand out. If you have questions about whether a specific color will match your lehenga, just send me a message and I can help you pick the best set.
