Handmade Festive Accessories by Urmila
Vibrant, handcrafted Kutchi-style accessories designed to add colour to your festive outfits. Perfect for Navratri, Garba, and traditional celebrations.
This handmade hair bow is one of my favorite creations, perfect for Navratri, Garba, or a mehendi function. I've used traditional Kutchi embroidery with intricate mirror work, shells, and pearls to create a piece that adds instant festive energy to your hairstyle. The long, colorful tails are designed to move with you as you dance.
People often ask me what drives me, and my answer is simple: I am very 'mehanti' (hardworking). This short clip shows me in my element, focused on the details. Whether it's mehendi or crafting an accessory, I pour this same dedication into every single piece to ensure it's unique and made with care.
About Featured
Each piece, from the embroidered waist belts with built-in mobile pockets to the oversized hair bows, is made by my own hands using traditional mirror work and shells. These accessories are not just for show. I designed the belts specifically so you can carry your phone securely while dancing at Garba or attending sangeet functions, keeping your outfit traditional without sacrificing convenience.
I started making these accessories because I wanted to do more with my hands beyond mehendi. Everything here is created by me, with no shortcuts, ensuring you get something that feels authentic and special.
What makes these pieces different?
- Kutchi-Style Detailing: I use heavy mirror work (shisha), cowrie shells, and bright, primary-colored embroidery to capture that traditional festive look. Whether it is a hair bow with long, trailing tails or a fabric choker, the goal is to make your ethnic wear stand out.
- Built for Comfort and Utility: My embroidered waist belts fit waist sizes from 28 to 38 inches and feature a 6x4 inch zippered pocket. You can store your smartphone and keys right in the belt, meaning you do not need to carry a bag while dancing. The backing is durable cotton canvas, so it stays in place without sagging.
- Lightweight Designs: My fabric chokers are lined with soft cotton to prevent sweat irritation and weigh under 50 grams, so you can wear them comfortably for long hours during weddings or festivals.
Because I make these pieces myself, no two items look exactly the same. Each comes with its own minor variations, which is part of the charm of owning something handmade. If you are preparing for Navratri, a sangeet, or just want to add some traditional flair to your wardrobe, these accessories are designed to last and move with you.
