Industrial Office Architecture: The Laxcon Steel Plant
A Gold-winning workplace design that integrates industrial materiality with climate-responsive architecture, creating a refined, functional office in Ahmedabad.
Our design for the Laxcon Steel Plant Office received a Gold Winner prize at the IDA Design Awards for Workplace Architecture. The project integrates the company's own steel into the design, from structural elements to fine details.
We are honored to receive an Honorable Mention from the Architecture & Design Community for the Laxcon Steel Plant Office, recognizing its contribution to office building architecture.

Our industrial complex for Stonex in Kishangarh also received an Honorable Mention at the IDA Design Awards, showcasing our versatility in industrial architecture.
This video provides a walkthrough of the Laxcon Steel Plant office, highlighting the interplay of light, shadow, and raw materials like concrete and steel that define the space.
The triple-height atrium is the heart of the Laxcon office, connecting multiple floors with glass bridges and creating a sense of a unified, collaborative environment.

About this collection
Instead of masking the building's industrial purpose, we integrated the client's core output directly into the infrastructure. The reception area features a suspended screen of vertical steel elements, while the staircase and office partitions are fabricated from the plant’s own material and industrial scrap. This approach turns the manufacturing process into the office's primary aesthetic, creating a workspace that is intellectually coherent and deeply personal to the brand.
Ahmedabad faces extreme temperatures, often exceeding 45 degrees Celsius. Our design for the Laxcon office mitigates this through thermal mass and strategic shading. We utilized exposed reinforced concrete (RCC) for its thermal properties, while incorporating multiple open-to-sky courtyards. These courtyards act as lungs for the building, facilitating natural ventilation and reducing reliance on artificial cooling.
The core of the structure is a triple-height atrium. By introducing glass bridges and visual porosity between floors, we ensured that every workstation feels connected to the larger office ecosystem. This layout prevents the isolation often felt in sprawling industrial complexes, fostering communication across departments.
We maintained a minimalist material palette throughout the project: ribbed oak paneling to soften the raw concrete, terrazzo flooring for high-traffic durability, and steel—the client's lifeblood—for structural accents. The goal was never to hide the industrial nature of the site, but to refine it. The cafeteria, for instance, uses molecular light fixtures to provide a contemporary contrast to the heavy concrete shell. This combination of raw textures and precise architectural detailing creates a workspace that is as functional as it is conceptually grounded.
