A 1,580 sq ft sanctuary in Mumbai, blending deep-rooted spiritual traditions with a modern, minimalist aesthetic.

The living room of House Nandini, designed as a contemporary interpretation of Vrindavan. The space balances spiritual elements with a refined, comfortable aesthetic for a modern family.

The custom-designed swing, a special request from the homeowners, becomes a beautiful focal point. It is set against a backdrop of traditional Pichwai art, blending culture with comfort.

A light-filled living area with floor-to-ceiling sheer curtains that create a soft, ethereal glow. The minimalist furniture, including a sleek daybed and a striped armchair, emphasizes the room's serene and open feel.

A glimpse into the living room from the hallway, showcasing the elegant and refined palette. The striped armchair and clean white paneled walls create a beautiful space that is both subtle and spiritual.

The hallway provides a clean, bright passage into the living area. This view highlights the polished marble floors and the seamless transition between spaces, a hallmark of our thoughtful layout planning.

The entrance foyer welcomes you with a curated collection of decorative plates and a rattan mirror. This corner perfectly illustrates our belief that culture compliments comfort, setting a warm and artistic tone for the home.

Another view of the entryway, where textured walls and a collection of wall decor create an inviting first impression. The design thoughtfully combines earthy textures with polished finishes.

The dining area features a stunning marble-topped table with a sculptural wooden base. The traditional painting of Krishna adds a spiritual touch to this modern dining space.

A serene and minimalist bedroom design. The simple grey headboard, wooden nightstand, and clean white walls create a calming retreat, while the full-length mirror adds depth and functionality.

A dedicated home office space with a view. The light wood desk and ergonomic chair are set against a backdrop of the city, creating an inspiring and functional work-from-home environment.

About Project: House Nandini (Contemporary & Spiritual)

When we set out to design House Nandini, the challenge was keeping the space open while honoring the family's deep spiritual roots. By using a light, neutral palette as our base, we allowed the ornate mandir and traditional Pichwai art to stand out as focal points rather than feeling heavy or out of place in a modern apartment.

We believe a home should reflect the soul of those who live in it. For this project, our clients wanted a contemporary interpretation of Vrindavan—a place of calm and cultural resonance, but without the visual clutter often found in traditional homes.

The layout centers on flow. We used large-format marble flooring to unify the living and dining areas, creating a seamless, airy passage. To ground the space, we incorporated warm teak wood in the joinery and furniture, such as the sculptural dining table base. This provides a rich contrast to the soft white walls and grey-toned seating.

We intentionally selected a few meaningful pieces, like the rattan swing and traditional wall art, and gave them space to breathe. The bathroom design, featuring a bold blue vanity against grey stone tiles, offers a refreshing pop of character that stays true to our signature style. For anyone looking to blend traditional elements with a modern aesthetic, the secret is curation. Do not try to fill every corner. Select the pieces that truly speak to your family's story, and let the rest of the architecture remain simple, clean, and functional. This project shows that you can have a space that is both spiritually grounded and effortlessly stylish.
