Jewellery Refurbishment: Give Your Heirlooms New Life
Don't let your family jewellery stay locked away. Let’s reimagine your old pieces into modern, wearable designs that keep those family stories alive.
That jewellery sitting in the bottom of your drawer has a story that isn't finished yet. I specialize in giving your cherished pieces a second life, transforming old treasures into modern masterpieces you will want to wear every day. Let's create something beautiful together.
It might be hard to believe, but this stunning emerald and diamond hasli was refurbished from an old, classic diamond necklace. I work closely with you to reimagine your old treasures, giving them a fresh story to tell.
This piece is a perfect example of how we can breathe new life into a family treasure. We refurbished this traditional necklace, adorning it with Basra pearls, rubies, and emeralds to create a piece that honors its past while shining brightly in the present.
About this collection
Bring your pieces to my Malad studio for a one-on-one session. We will discuss whether we can repurpose the original gold, reset existing stones, or use traditional techniques like moti piroi to transform your old-school hasli or ginnis into something you will actually wear.
Many of us have drawers filled with jewellery we rarely touch, not because we do not love it, but because the design feels dated or impractical for daily life. My approach to refurbishing focuses on honoring the history of your metal while making it functional for today.
The Transformation Process
When we meet, we first look at the condition of your gold. Whether you have traditional 22kt pieces with Nakshi work or diamond-studded items, we assess what can be kept and what needs adjustment. I often use techniques like meenakari, which is enamel work, or moti piroi, which is pearl stringing, to add color and texture without losing the core structure of the piece.
Common Redesigns We Handle:
- Heirloom to Daily Wear: Turning a heavy, traditional necklace into a sleek, modern choker or a set of stackable rings.
- Stone Resetting: Taking diamonds or precious stones from outdated settings and moving them into contemporary gold bands or earrings.
- Gold Repurposing: Melting down damaged parts to create new, cohesive designs while retaining the purity of your original gold.
If you have a collection of loose ginnis or a solitary hasli that has been sitting idle, you do not need a complete new set to feel like you have something fresh. Often, small changes make the biggest difference. Visit the studio to see how we can bring those family stories back into your rotation.
Tiansh
Jai Shri Krishna. I believe your old jewellery holds stories that are not finished yet. I love working with you to turn those forgotten pieces, like a dadi’s hasli or mom’s ginnis, into modern treasures you will wear every day.
