Heirloom Revival: Modern Styling for Vintage Sarees and Jewelry
Your mother's saree or grandmother's jewelry holds more than just fabric and gold—it holds history. We help you weave these cherished pieces into your wedding wardrobe, ensuring every heirloom feels like a modern, authentic extension of you.
"I wore my mom's saree." This video captures the emotional heart of our work. We helped our bride drape her late mother's wedding saree, a moment that became invaluable to her and her family.
From a treasured trousseau saree to a modern kaftan set. We upcycled our co-founder's mom's saree, using the green pallu for a chic waist belt, proving that style can be both relevant and sentimental.
Then and Now: A beautiful comparison of the bride's late mother wearing her Kanjeevaram in 1994, and our bride, Manisha, wearing the same saree draped as a second layer for her Pradhanam in 2024.
The process begins with a piece of history. Here, we are documenting a vintage silver 'payal' from a client's grandmother, weighing 2kg, to be repurposed into a new piece of jewellery.
The joy of reviving heirlooms is unparalleled. We transformed a vintage 'kamarband' (waist belt) into a stunning hand-painted pendant, pairing it with another heirloom mala for a look that is rich in history.
An heirloom-inspired look for our bride Manisha. We draped her late mother's bottle green Kanjeevaram for her Pradhanam ceremony, a treasured tradition that will stay with her forever.
A real bridesmaid's story. She chose to wear a precious heirloom saree, a vegan silk Kanjeevaram woven with diamond needles, a technique called 'Vaira Oosi' that mimics the shimmer of diamonds.
About this collection
The most daunting part of working with an heirloom isn't the design; it is the trust you place in us to handle fabrics that can never be replaced. We assess every piece for structural integrity before we even pick up a pair of scissors. Whether we are transforming a vintage kamarband into a statement pendant or converting a heavy Kanjeevaram into a contemporary silhouette, our goal is to ensure the story remains intact even as the shape evolves to suit your wedding day.
Honouring History, Modernising Style
Wedding fashion often leans into what is new, but we find the most powerful looks are rooted in the past. When we work with family heirlooms, we are essentially acting as bridge-builders between generations. It starts with a conversation about the piece—where it came from, who wore it, and why it matters to you.
Our Approach to Repurposing
- Assessment: We look for fabric weakness, age-related damage, and the 'life' left in the weave. Not every piece can be recut, and we are honest about what will survive a transformation.
- Contextual Styling: Sometimes, you don't need to cut a saree to revive it. We often find that a different draping technique or pairing a vintage blouse with a new, textured skirt gives an old piece a completely new personality.
- Jewelry Restoration: From turning heavy silver payals into contemporary neckpieces to resetting ancestral stones, we work to make vintage jewelry wearable for modern functions without losing the craftsmanship of the original artisan.
Stories We Have Shaped
We recently worked with a bride, Manisha, who wanted to incorporate her late mother's Kanjeevaram saree into her Pradhanam ceremony. Instead of just wearing it, we draped it as a layer, creating a look that was visually striking and deeply emotional for her family. We also worked on a project where a client’s grandmother’s kamarband was repurposed into a hand-painted pendant, allowing her to carry a piece of family history that wouldn't have otherwise been worn.
Whether it is a 1994 trousseau saree or a piece of 'Vaira Oosi' diamond-needle silk, our process respects the object while ensuring it serves your current style. You are not just wearing an outfit; you are carrying a legacy.
The Wedding Wardrobe
We are Nandini and Shivangi. We believe a wedding wardrobe should not look like a Pinterest clone—it should feel like your story. When we aren't sourcing new textiles, you will find us deep in discussions about how to turn your grandmother's vintage silk into something you can actually dance in.
