Beyond Asana: The Deeper Dimensions of Yoga
Yoga is much more than just a workout. Explore the philosophy, alignment, and breathwork that turn a physical posture into a meaningful practice.
Yoga is often misunderstood as just a form of exercise or something only for flexible people. In my course, I address these misconceptions to provide a clear and authentic understanding of what yoga truly is: a holistic science for the mind, body, and spirit.
A visual representation of the many myths surrounding yoga. My training course is designed to give you a complete education, separating fact from fiction so you can teach with authority and integrity.
The murti of Natraj, or the "Supreme Performer," symbolizes the cosmic dance of creation and destruction. For yogis, it represents the perfect balance, the union of consciousness and energy, and the ultimate goal of spiritual liberation, or moksha.
The sacred sound 'OM' is more than a chant; it is a vibration that connects you to your inner self. I teach that the true experience of OM is found in the silence that follows the chant, where you can feel the pulse of divine awareness.
This explains the concept of Dharma, which means righteousness or one's moral duty. Following your Dharma is about aligning your actions with the cosmic order, a foundational principle for living a meaningful life.
This defines Artha, the pursuit of material wealth and prosperity. In yogic philosophy, earning a livelihood to sustain your household is a valid goal, provided it is done ethically and without violating your Dharma.
This explains Kama, the pursuit of desire and pleasure. Life's pleasures, whether physical, mental, or spiritual, are meant to be enjoyed in a balanced and ethical manner as part of a complete human experience.
This defines Moksha, the ultimate goal in many spiritual traditions, including yoga. It is the state of liberation from the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, which is attained when one is free from the bonds of their past actions, or Karmas.
About Beyond Asana: The Deeper Dimensions of Yoga
When I teach a forward bend, I don't just care if you can touch your toes. I care if you exhale correctly to protect your spine. My 200-hour course focuses on these small, critical details because if your technique is wrong, the flow of energy gets stuck. We dive into the 'why' behind every movement so you can practice—and eventually teach—with full awareness, not just muscle memory.
Understanding the 'Why' Behind the Practice
Most yoga training treats the body like a machine. We treat it like a vessel for energy. In this course, we go far beyond the surface-level asanas you see on social media. We break down the philosophy of the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and basic Ayurveda so you understand how your lifestyle impacts your practice.
What You Will Learn
- Breathwork as Foundation: We don't just breathe; we learn Pranayama. I guide you through every inhale and exhale, ensuring you understand the mechanics and the energy flow behind each movement.
- The Deeper Meaning: We explore concepts like Dharma (duty), Artha (purpose), and Moksha (liberation), giving context to why we practice in the first place.
- Alignment Over Flexibility: If you hunch, your energy blocks. We focus on proper alignment using props to ensure your spine remains erect, allowing Prana (life force) to flow upward, not get stuck.
The Teacher's Journey
This isn't a certificate mill. My goal is to produce teachers who are confident in their own skin. That is why our 200-hour program in Vile Parle includes a mandatory one-month internship. You will teach, observe, and learn to manage a class, not just demonstrate poses.
We keep our batches small—6 to 10 students—to ensure I can provide individual attention to your form, your voice, and your understanding. By the time you finish, you will know how to sequence classes that serve the mind, body, and spirit equally. If you are ready to stop just doing yoga and start living it, let's talk.
