DJing is about more than just playing tracks. It’s culture, gear, community, and the stories we share. Here is a peek into my world, from podcast chats to the records I spin at home.

Had a great time on The Vic Fix podcast. Here's a little teaser of me answering some rapid fire questions about DJ trends and what I'd play at my own wedding.

On The Vic Fix podcast, I revealed who my dream DJ battle opponent would be. It's all about friendly rivalry and pushing each other to be better.

Kicking off a new series of conversations on The Vic Fix. Here's a teaser where I talk about some of my hidden talents outside of DJing.

Even at home, the music doesn't stop. Here's a little Christmas mashup I put together from my living room. You don't always need a big club setup to be creative.

Sole Mates. My passion for sneaker culture is connected to my love for hip hop. Here are my Toro Bravo Jordans with a matching red Serato vinyl.

Another angle of the Toro Bravos and the vinyl. Style and music go hand in hand.

I spotted this definition of 'genre' on a wall and it really resonated with me. It's not just a category of music, it's about bringing emotions, flavours, and people together.

About this collection

You’ll see plenty of polished sets on other pages, but here is where I get real about the craft. Whether it’s a chat on 'The Vic Fix' podcast about current DJ trends or a late-night home mashup session, these clips show how I think about music outside the club booth. Take a look at my setup and the culture I live by—if you like the vibe, let's talk about getting you behind the decks.

More Than Just Beats

People often ask what it takes to be an open-format DJ. It’s not just about knowing how to beat match; it’s about understanding the psychology of the dance floor. This is exactly what I teach at my Indiranagar studio. We spend time on the 'why'—why a track works in a Bollywood set, how to blend Hip Hop with Afro House, and why your transitions need to be seamless.

Life Behind the Decks

My studio in Bengaluru is where the work happens. From manual beat matching on Pioneer CDJs to sound design in Ableton, it's all about hands-on practice. I don't believe in just giving you theory. You’ll be on the hardware from day one, whether you are taking my Foundation Course or diving deep into advanced turntablism.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my own equipment to start? No. The studio is fully equipped with industry-standard gear. You learn on the same tech you will find in clubs across India.

How does your open-format training differ? Most courses focus on one genre. I focus on the mix. We cover live mashups, tone play, and how to read a room, which is the most important skill for any working DJ.

Can I book a studio visit? Definitely. Swing by to check the setup, meet the team, and get a feel for the environment before you sign up for any course.

I’m Yankur, a Bangalore-based DJ and instructor who’s been living for the music since 2008. When I’m not teaching in Indiranagar or playing a club set, I’m probably hunting for new vinyl or nerding out about DJ tech.
