16 Years Behind The Decks: My Story & Philosophy
It’s been 16 years of josh aur junoon since I started this journey in 2008. Here is a look at the hustle, the studio, and the philosophy behind my DJ training.
A throwback to the early days. This is where the passion started, honing my skills and learning the craft from the ground up.
Another one from the archives. Rocking a party back in the day, learning how to move a crowd with just a pair of turntables.
Celebrating 16 years of DJing with my crew. It's been a long journey from passion to profession, and the grind is still on.
In the zone, in my elements. This is me, focused and ready to create.
Fresh and straight to the point. This is my attitude, both in life and in my music.
"If you like yourself, you’ll keep moving forward." A personal philosophy I live by and bring into my teaching.
Just a public service announcement to smile. Keeping the vibes positive is key.
Wait a minute. A candid moment of fun, because DJing should never be too serious.
Rolling with the best in the business. Surrounding yourself with great people is part of the journey.
A casual moment. It's important to have a life and interests outside of the DJ booth.
About The Journey & The Vibe
When I teach, we don't just push buttons. Whether you are learning manual beat matching or complex EQ manipulation, you are doing it on industry-standard Pioneer gear at my Indiranagar studio. We focus on the mechanics of the mix—how to read a crowd and why a track works at 11 PM but flops at 8 PM. If you want to actually move a floor, you have to learn how to control the vibe, not just the software.
I started back in 2008, and after a decade and a half of club nights, festivals, and endless hours behind the decks, I realized that DJing isn't just about playing songs. It is about understanding the psychology of the dance floor. This is why my training is built on hands-on practice rather than theory.
Why The Training Matters
My Indiranagar studio is designed to mimic the environment you will eventually work in. You won't find theoretical PowerPoint presentations here. You will find Pioneer CDJs, DJM mixers, and a proper sound system.
We cover the technical essentials:
- Manual Beat Matching: No sync button shortcuts. You learn to listen and align tracks by ear.
- Open Format Mixing: How to transition between Hip Hop, Bollywood, Afro House, and Jersey Club without breaking the energy.
- Advanced Techniques: From live scratching and DVS setups with Serato and Phase to complex EQ filtering and tone play.
The 'Party Ninja' Philosophy
I call myself the Party Ninja because DJing requires a mix of stealth and precision. You have to be in the zone, constantly improvising. My classes are meant to be an inclusive space, especially for women wanting to break into the scene.
Whether you are looking for a foundation course to learn the ropes or a professional turtablism module to sharpen your skills, the goal remains the same: Khud ko pasand karenge toh nirantar aage badhenge (if you like yourself, you will continuously move forward). If you are curious about the workflow or want to see the studio, just reach out. Let’s make music memories.
