About The Beginner's Forge: Cut, Grind, Weld
Forget the intimidation factor of heavy machinery. In this session, we start with the absolute basics: how to clamp steel, safely use an angle grinder to cut through square tubes, and lay your first bead of weld. You will mess up, you will burn through a few practice pieces, and that is exactly the point. By the end of the day, you are not just watching a demo; you are building your own functional steel project to take home.
How We Do It
We strip away the academic jargon and focus on the mechanics of making. You don't need to be an engineer or have prior metalworking experience to join. We guide you through the process in small, manageable steps—ideal for absolute beginners, design students, or anyone who wants to trade a screen for a welding mask.
What You Will Actually Learn
- Safety Fundamentals: Before you touch a tool, we cover the basics of shop safety and how to properly use PPE, including auto-darkening helmets and leather gauntlets.
- Cutting & Grinding: You will learn to use angle grinders and chop saws to size your materials. We teach you how to clean edges and prepare surfaces for a strong weld.
- Welding Basics: We demystify both Arc (Stick) and MIG welding. You will practice on scrap steel until you get the hang of the bead, then move on to assembling your final project.
The 'You Make, You Take' Guarantee
We operate on a simple principle: you aren't here to watch us work. Whether you are building a geometric steel lamp or a small metal sculpture, the design and execution are in your hands. We provide all the mild steel, welding consumables, and mentorship. You just bring your enthusiasm and closed-toe shoes.
