Meet Our Makers: Stories from the Shop
See why our community loves getting their hands dirty. Real people, real projects, and that unbeatable feeling of saying, 'I made this.'
It is never too late to learn a new skill. Ann shares her experience in our welding course, highlighting how our detailed, step-by-step demonstrations made the process accessible and rewarding.
Hear from Dennis, a repeat maker, who has taken both our woodworking and metalworking workshops. He shares how rewarding it is to build functional items like a guitar stand.
Even a rocket engineer finds joy in making things by hand. Nikhil talks about his scrap metal lamp project, explaining the creative process and mechanical design behind his unique creation.
About Meet Our Makers: Stories from the Shop
You will find rocket engineers welding lamps right next to folks just picking up a grinder for the first time. It is not about being a professional from day one, it is about the quiet focus of building something with your own hands. Everyone here starts somewhere, and most of us start by making a few happy accidents along the way.
Who comes to The Workshop?
Basically, everyone. Our community spans from teenagers to retirees, and design students to engineers.
- The total beginner: Just like Anne, who joined our welding course. She arrived as a complete novice, and by the end of the day, she was handling tools and understanding the craft. We do not expect you to know anything beforehand.
- The repeat makers: Like Dennis. He is an engineer who realized that after a day of digital work, he needed to build physical objects. He has moved from woodworking to metalworking, just for the satisfaction of having a guitar stand he built himself in his room.
- The creative problem solvers: Like Nikhil. When he is not working on rocket engines, he is in our makerspace turning scrap metal into functional lamps with ball-and-socket joints. He uses the space to keep his creative mind sharp.
We provide the safety gear, the tools, and the mentors. You bring the curiosity. Whether you want to fix a chair, build a lamp, or just see how a MIG welder works, you fit in here. Come join the vibe and get your hands dirty.
The Workshop
We are The Workshop, and honestly, we are all about that happy buzz you get when you make stuff with your own hands. Whether you are 13 or 70, a total noob or someone who knows their way around tools, this is your space. Drop by and make something.
