Family portraits are for everyone. Here is a beautiful family of four, including an older sibling, celebrating a first birthday.
It is so special when families return. I was thrilled to capture this family again for their son's second birthday.
About It's a Family Affair
Parents often worry about how the baby will behave, so I keep our family sessions loose and interactive. We focus on natural play—tickling, hugging, or just sitting together on the floor—which helps the little ones feel safe and happy rather than pressured to smile at the camera. This approach ensures the photos look like your family, not a stiff studio setup.
When we plan your first birthday session, the goal is to make sure the whole family feels part of the celebration. It is not just about the baby; it is about the parents, siblings, and yes, even grandparents joining in.
Why Include the Family?
These group portraits become some of the most cherished images from the day. Whether it is a quiet moment of a mother cuddling her baby or a playful shot of a father on the floor with his son, these images tell your family's story.
How We Shoot
I offer two primary ways to do this:
- The Smash, Bath & Family Package: This is a comprehensive 3.5-hour session in my Goregaon West studio. We combine formal portraits, the messy cake smash, and a bubble bath cleanup in a vintage tub. It is relaxed, and we have enough time to ensure the baby is comfortable and happy.
- Outdoor Nature Sessions: If you prefer natural light, we can head to a garden or beach in Mumbai. These sessions are perfect for more candid, movement-based family portraits during the golden hour.
A Note on Preparation
I provide all the props, outfits, and styling for the baby, including rattan chairs and macrame backdrops. For the family, I recommend coordinating outfits in neutral tones to keep the focus on your faces and expressions. If you have older siblings, bring them along—I love capturing that special bond they share with the birthday star.
Safety is my priority. My studio is fully equipped for infants, and I keep the environment calm, clean, and welcoming for everyone involved.
