About Our Pre-Pleating & Folding Process
When I prepare your saree, I use a specific technique of locking pleats with professional steam ironing while they are held with heavy-duty clips. This ensures that whether you are wearing a delicate georgette or a heavy Kanjeevaram, your pleats stay crisp and secure from the moment you tuck it in, without shifting as you move.
How It Works
I treat every saree as a story. Whether it is for a wedding, a festival, or a simple get-together, the goal is for you to feel like a 'kalayana ponnu' (bride/beautiful woman) without the stress of manual draping.
The Process:
- Fabric Protection: For delicate fabrics, I use a protective mesh cloth while steam ironing. This shields the zari and fine texture of your saree from direct heat while setting the pleats.
- Precision Pleating: I create 5 to 7 standard width pleats for lighter fabrics or 8 to 12 thin, high-density pleats for heavy traditional silks. I focus on waist sculpting, ensuring the center pleats sit flush against your body to reduce bulk.
- Securing: I finish by adding strategic safety pins at the shoulder, the hip area, and the center tucks. This is the secret to keeping the saree exactly where it should be all day.
Folding Options for Your Convenience:
- Hanger Folding: Best for local Mumbai clients who want to wear the saree immediately upon delivery. The saree arrives draped on a hanger, maintaining its structure.
- Box Folding: Ideal if you are traveling to a destination wedding. I fold the saree into a compact 10x12 inch rectangle, locking the pleats inside so they remain intact inside your suitcase.
