We start them young at The Reflex Arc. Building agility, hand-eye coordination, and a proper foundation in the sport from age four.

Our tiny titans mastering the art of ball balancing. This simple drill is fantastic for developing paddle control and focus in young beginners.

A young player learning to count her shots and follow instructions. We build discipline and focus from the very first lesson.

I'm teaching a young student about slow wrist movement while watching the ball. This helps develop the delicate touch needed for spin and control.

I demonstrate techniques slowly and clearly for my youngest students. A clear demonstration helps them grasp complex movements more easily.

Allowing the player to see the rotation of the ball is key. This drill helps young players understand how spin affects the ball's trajectory.

Training the next generation of players at my New Panvel venue. We provide a supportive environment for kids to learn and grow in the sport.

Even our youngest players participate in cool-down stretches. It's about building healthy, lifelong habits for any athletic pursuit.

About Starting Young: Fundamentals for Kids

When I work with kids at the academy, we don't just rally for fun. We spend the initial sessions drilling the fundamentals: grip, stance, and basic ball control. I strictly cap these batches at 12 students because I need to be able to walk the room and correct every child's posture individually—bad habits formed at this age are the hardest to fix later.

Kids as young as four join us at The Reflex Arc not just to hit balls, but to learn how to move. Table tennis is a game of speed and precision, and if the foundation is weak, they hit a wall as soon as they start competing.

We focus on the 'Shakehand' grip as our baseline. If that grip is wrong, everything else follows suit. We use robot-fed drills to teach rhythm and agility ladders to build the necessary footwork coordination. It is not playtime; it is training.

What you need to know about our approach:

  • The Discipline: We train at the Bhoir Sports Complex in New Panvel. It is an indoor facility with industrial fans and hard work. We teach the children that results come from repetition, not magic.
  • The Progression: We start with tapping and balancing exercises to develop wrist stability. Once they have control, we move to Forehand Drives and Backhand Pushes. We do not rush the process.
  • Batch Structure: We keep groups small to ensure direct coaching attention. This is not a daycare center for sports; it is a serious environment for kids who want to play properly.
  • Gear: We provide rackets for the first week so your child can try it out, but they will need to purchase their own beginner bat after that to build muscle memory with a consistent weight.

If you want your child to learn discipline, focus, and real table tennis technique, this is where we build it.
