Sourdough is unforgiving in front of a lens because it relies entirely on texture. I avoid artificial flash that flattens your crust, preferring to work with natural, directional light to highlight the 'ear' of your loaf and the airy, open crumb, ensuring that what the camera sees matches exactly how warm and crusty your bread feels in real life.
Baking bread is a slow process, and the photography needs to reflect that patience. When I work with home bakers and small bakeries, I avoid the overly polished look that makes artisan bread feel like a store-bought factory product. My approach uses dark, moody setups that let the texture of the crust and the dust of the flour take center stage.
I bring my own collection of rustic props—aged wooden boards, antique brass vessels, and linen fabrics—to create that warm, 'lived-in' kitchen atmosphere. We will capture the microscopic bubbles in your sourdough starter, the steam rising from a fresh cut, and the messy, flour-dusted workspace that actually tells the story of your brand.
