Paintings on Canvas & Paper
Traditional art made by hand, from textured acrylic landscapes to hyper-realistic soft pastel portraits, created to bring a personal touch to your walls.
A landscape painting of a boat on the water, created using a palette knife and acrylics. This technique gives the artwork a rich, textured feel. This piece is a reminder that learning involves making mistakes.
A handmade portrait of a meditating Krishna, created with soft pastels. This piece is framed and ready to bring a sense of calm to any room.
The unframed version of my "Meditating Krishna" soft pastel portrait. The colors are blended by hand to create a soft, dreamlike effect.
Here is the "Meditating Krishna" portrait styled in a home setting. It's designed to be a peaceful piece of wall decor for your living space.
My first realistic still life using oil pastels. I really enjoyed the smoothness and blend-ability of this medium to create the vibrant lemons and fresh mint leaves.
This is a work-in-progress of my first attempt at a hyper-realistic oil painting of a leopard. I'm building the colors and details up slowly, layer by layer.
A shading practice piece of a calla lily. I used charcoal and shading pencils to create the dramatic contrast between light and dark.
About Paintings on Canvas & Paper
When you commission a piece in this collection, you are not getting a print. I build my oil and soft pastel paintings layer by layer over 7 to 14 days to get the depth right. It is a slow process that allows me to add small details, like the texture of a landscape or the subtle shading of a portrait, that you simply won't find in mass-produced wall decor.
How I Work With Traditional Mediums
I prefer working with my hands. Whether I am using acrylics for a vibrant landscape or soft pastels for a portrait, I treat every project as an experiment in color and texture. I do not aim for perfection, but I do aim for work that feels honest.
The Process Behind the Painting
- Material Quality: I use high-quality acid-free paper for pastels and stretched canvas for acrylics and oils. For pastel and charcoal works, I apply a professional fixative spray once finished to ensure the pigments don't smudge or fade over time.
- Layering: My hyper-realistic portraits require patience. I spend days building up colors and tones to achieve realistic skin textures or wildlife fur. This is why I ask for a 7 to 14-day turnaround for physical commissions—good art takes time to settle.
- Framing: I usually ship work unframed in rigid mailing tubes or flat packs to keep shipping costs low and safe. If you need a frame, I can include a black or brown wooden frame with glass protection, which I highly recommend for pastel portraits to keep them safe from dust and humidity.
Custom Commissions
If you have a reference photo—a pet, a family member, or a beautiful landscape you saw while traveling—we can talk about turning it into a painting. I will share progress photos with you while I work so you can see how the piece is shaping up before it reaches your doorstep.
