About Chrome, Metallic & Mirror Effects
Chrome art is all about the base. If the surface isn't perfectly smooth before I start buffing the powder in, it won't give you that mirror-like shine. I spend extra time on the prep and base coat because that glossy finish only looks great if the foundation is flawless.
Chrome is one of my favorite things to do because it transforms a basic set into something really special. When you come in, we can play with different techniques—from the classic 'glazed donut' look to bold gold-dipped French tips that I've been loving lately.
How we create the shine
I use high-quality chrome pigments that I rub onto a tack-free gel base. The magic really happens in the application; if I don't buff it just right, it won't shine. I often pair these with cat-eye polish underneath for that extra movement and depth, which looks insane in direct light. If you have a specific metallic shade in mind—gold, silver, pearl, or even rose gold—I’ve got you covered.
Can you mix it with other styles?
Absolutely. One of my favorite looks right now is mixing a tortoiseshell pattern or solid French tips with chrome accents. It keeps the design interesting without being too much.
Maintenance
Chrome sets are like any other gel or acrylic service. They look their best for about 3-4 weeks. The only thing to watch out for is that the chrome can sometimes wear off at the very tips if you're really rough with your hands. I always seal it with a double top coat to keep it protected and shiny for as long as possible. If you're planning for a festival like Diwali or a wedding, these are my top recommendation for that festive glow.
