Custom Puja Unit Designs from Old Cupboards
Old furniture holds memories. See how I turned a simple, forgotten cupboard into a personalized, sacred space for my home.
This is how I started creating a Puja unit for my own home from an old cupboard. I worked with my carpenter to learn new skills, build a drawer from scratch, and prep the entire unit for its artistic transformation.
The artistic details are what make a piece special. I installed a laser-cut 'Om' with strip lighting, added moulded borders, and worked with a friend to create beautiful Lippan art with mirrors for an authentic touch.

Upcycling a Puja unit is not just about paint, it is about functional transformation. I coordinate with carpenters for structural changes like shelf adjustments or adding LED lights before I apply the artistic layers like Lippan work or chalk finishes to match your home aesthetic.

Then, the structural work begins. I team up with a carpenter to modify the interior, adding drawers or shelving if needed. For this specific Puja unit, we added laser-cut details and LED lighting to bring warmth to the space.
Finally, the art happens. I used chalk paint for that soft, matte texture. To give it a traditional feel, I incorporated Lippan art with mirrors, which adds depth and character. The result is a piece that is uniquely yours, created from something you already owned.
