Finding my artistic style was a journey of patience and practice. This video reflects on how I discovered my signature blend of delicate watercolor florals and timeless calligraphy, a harmony that feels like an extension of who I am.
Building a piece layer by layer. This video shows the process of creating a framed art piece for a doctor, from painting the watercolor florals to adding gold details and Copperplate calligraphy.
"I never imagined this would become my path." A photo of me in my studio, reflecting on my journey from a Chartered Accountant to a Calligraphy Artist, a path that began when motherhood made me pause and rediscover myself.

About From My Desk: The Creative Process
I work primarily with 300 GSM textured watercolor paper, which handles both wet paint and ink without buckling. When you order, I do not just write your text. I plan the composition, sketch the floral layout, and then use a traditional dip pen to pull the ink, creating those thick and thin lines that define classic Copperplate calligraphy. You are seeing the actual tools and the patience required for every single piece.
Every piece I create begins with a blank sheet of high-quality cotton or watercolor paper. I avoid digital printing because I believe true emotion requires the variation that only a human hand can provide. My process is meditative, grounded in the materials I love—Hunt 101 nibs for that precise flex and custom-mixed gouache for the floral accents.
The Sequence of a Piece
-
Layout & Sketch: We start with your text, and I map out the placement to ensure the flow feels balanced.
-
The Floral Layer: Using my favorite watercolor palettes, I paint the delicate florals first, letting them dry completely before touching the paper with ink.
-
Calligraphy: This is where the story happens. Whether it is Copperplate or a more modern script, I write slowly, ensuring the ink hits the paper at the right pressure to capture that signature character.
-
Finishing Touches: I add gold leaf, wax seals, or ribbon ties, depending on what we planned during our consultation.
This is not a factory process. Because I hand-paint every floral element, no two cards or scrolls will ever be identical. That is the point. When you hold a piece from my desk, you are holding something that was created in a specific moment of calm, intended to hold your most important words.
