Art isn't just about the final image, it's about the journey to get there. We focus on process-based learning where you can experiment, make mistakes, and build your own creative voice.

Festive themes don't have to mean shallow learning. Our middle school students explored Santa through monoprinting, learning about half-tones, pressure control, and visual reversal. The subject was familiar, but the thinking was new.

An explosion of color at our Pop Art workshop. Inspired by the iconic art movement, students created eye-catching works celebrating everyday objects and sounds with bold patterns and playful onomatopoeias.

This week's technique is Crayon Imprint Art. Using oil pastels, students create vibrant, textured designs. It’s a fantastic way to explore the magic of crayon textures and create stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces.

Trying out Crayon Transfer Art. This fun technique uses crayons in a new way to create unique, colorful drawings, perfect for sparking creativity in young artists.

A tutorial on the Crayon Resist technique. We show how to create a magical underwater jellyfish scene where the wax from the crayons resists the ink, making the drawing pop.

Ready to make water come alive on paper? This video demonstrates three easy ways to draw water, from curly streams with crayons to creating depth with a bit of soap in the paint.

A tutorial on three simple and fun techniques for drawing trees. We show how to use crayons for curly trunks, a straw to blow branches, and earbuds to create lush foliage.

A throwback to when our students experimented with weaving canvas strips through their paintings. This mixed-media technique adds incredible dimension and symbolic meaning to their work.

A fantastic example of canvas weaving, where a student created a dramatic scene of a shark with a treasure chest in its mouth. The woven water adds a unique sense of movement and texture.

This piece combines coffee painting with canvas weaving to create a rich, textured portrait. It showcases our students' ability to blend multiple techniques in a single artwork.

About Exploring Art Techniques

Art isn't about making things look perfect, it's about the decisions you make along the way. In my studio, we swap 'copying from a photo' for a process-driven approach—like experimenting with canvas weaving or monoprinting—that teaches you how to think, experiment, and ultimately find your own artistic voice.
