Art is not about perfection. It is about finding your voice. Join me to experiment with cyanotype, clay, and collaborative murals in spaces built for real talk and healing.

The final "SANGAM" handprint banner, created during a workshop with social workers and activists from across India. Each handprint represents an individual coming together to form a collective whole.

The process of creation. Participants work together on a massive canvas, using their own handprints to create a collaborative piece of art. It’s messy, joyful, and deeply communal.

Preparing for a Cyanotype printing session. We use natural objects like leaves and flowers, along with paper cutouts, to create images using only sunlight. It’s a magical process of painting with light and shadow.

A finished painting titled, "Wanna hear a story from the branches? My Grandma is a tree now!" This piece came from a moment of deep reflection on my grandmothers and the stories they hold.

The same painting, "My Grandma is a tree now!", shown in my workspace. Seeing the art in its environment gives a sense of the creative process and the space where these ideas come to life.

About Diverse Workshop Creations

I don't teach art in the traditional, polished sense. In these sessions, we focus on Theatre of the Oppressed, cyanotype printing, and collective mural making to unpack real-life struggles. We work in small, intimate groups of 10 to 20 people, which allows me to personally facilitate the space, ensuring it stays safe enough for you to drop the masks and just be.

A Process for Liberation

My workshops are designed to be messy, loud, and honest. Whether we are working with natural terracotta clay for stress release, or using theatre games to break down hierarchies in a corporate team, the objective is connection. We use art as a political act, creating a bridge between personal healing and social change.

What We Do

  • Cyanotype Printing: We paint with the sun, using natural objects like leaves and flowers to capture images. It is a magical process of working with light and shadow.
  • Collaborative Murals: I guide groups to transform 100 sq ft walls into stories that spark conversations. I provide the initial sketch and professional mixing, and the group does the rest.
  • Theatre and Body Work: Drawing on methods like the Theatre of the Oppressed, we use movement and play to explore complex issues like gender, conflict, and diversity.

Practical Details

I work primarily in the Mumbai metropolitan area but I travel across India for workshops. Sessions generally range from half-day intensives to two-day mural projects. You do not need to be an artist to join. You only need the willingness to participate in a conversation. We provide all the materials, from high-quality acrylics to artist-grade paper. Come, let us sit around the tree and talk. Anbe sivam—love is God.

I am Girija, and I believe art is a political act that helps us reclaim our dignity. I guide groups through messy, loud, and honest creative processes that go beyond just making something pretty. Come sit with us, let your guard down, and find your voice in the company of others.
