About Wearable Memories
Making wearable art requires more than just pouring resin; the prep work is what ensures your piece stays beautiful. Whether it is petals from your wedding varmala or a lock of pet fur, I use silica dehydration to remove moisture completely before casting. This prevents your flowers from rotting or turning brown inside the jewelry. If you are sending me flowers, make sure they are fresh when you pack them—the sooner they reach my studio, the better they will look in your final piece.
Preserving memories in resin is a delicate process of freezing time. When you choose to turn a memento into jewelry, you are not just buying an accessory; you are entrusting me with a story. Here is how I approach the craft:
The Preservation Process
Resin is a chemical medium that can react with moisture, so flowers or fabrics must be completely dry before they go into the mold. I spend 3 to 7 days carefully dehydrating blooms using silica sand. This retains the natural color and shape of your petals, which is why a rose looks like a rose, even years later. Once dry, I use a multi-layer pouring method over 2 to 3 weeks. This keeps the items suspended perfectly, so you don't get air bubbles or burnt edges.
