Aerial Cinematography of Indian Temples and Monasteries
Ancient architecture takes on a new form from the sky. My drone footage captures the quiet grandeur of temples and monasteries, framing them within the landscapes they call home.
बरसाना. The Shriji Temple in Barsana at sunset. This is the place where the famous Lathmar Holi is celebrated. Capturing it in the golden hour light, before the chaos of the festival begins, was a moment of pure peace.
भरोसा रख, वो यहाँ तक लाया है, तो आगे भी ले जायेगा. Have faith. He who brought you this far will take you further. A hopeful message over a stunning sunset at the Barsana temple.

About Sacred Spaces: Temples & Monasteries
Capturing these sacred spaces requires a DGCA certified pilot to navigate sensitive heritage zones safely and legally. I focus on specific angles like top-down shots and golden-hour orbits to reveal architectural details and how these structures harmonize with their surrounding terrain, whether it is a hill-top monastery or a riverside ghat.
My approach to shooting these spaces is not just about the aerial perspective, but about capturing the atmosphere of the place. When I shoot a location like the Krishnabai Mandir in Old Mahabaleshwar or the temples of Barsana, I look for the geometry of the architecture against the greenery or the village below.
For spiritual sites like the Varanasi ghats, the challenge is capturing the movement and the devotion during ceremonies, which requires planning flights to respect the sanctity of the event while getting that cinematic wide shot. In high-altitude places like Ladakh, the drone allows me to highlight how the monasteries cling to the cliffs, something you just cannot see from the ground.
I always fly with safety protocols in place, as these areas often have crowds or are environmentally sensitive. My gear setup, including the DJI Mavic 3, is chosen specifically for its low-noise profile to avoid disturbing the peace of these locations. I prefer shooting during the golden hour, as the soft light highlights stone textures and adds depth to the landscape. If you have a project involving heritage documentation or a documentary that needs a respectful, aerial eye, I am ready to travel to your location.
Akshay Kanade
I am not just a pilot, I am a storyteller who uses the sky as my canvas. I look for the silence around historic sites and the patterns they form against the earth. Whether it is a Himalayan monastery or a village temple, I find my own peace in these frames.
