My Digital Scrapbook: Maximalist Visual Storytelling
I layer photos, textures, and street moments to build a visual narrative of life in Mumbai and beyond, one scrapbook page at a time.
A voice-note vlog about getting lost in the city to find its hidden treasures, presented as a rich, layered digital collage.
A Bombay kind of magic. A collage featuring a polaroid of a red facade, held up against a backdrop of flowers and street scenes.
A collage capturing a classic Mumbai street scene with a cyclist, a taxi, and heritage buildings.
A layered composition of a street cat, a green door, and purple flowers, creating a rich visual texture.
A serene collage of Flora Fountain, with its statues, pigeons, and old-fashioned street lamps.
'Love Letters to Bombay'. A collage featuring a vintage camera, a self-portrait, and architectural details.
'Art history on the menu'. A creative collage where a polaroid of a statue is held over a plate of food.
A digital scrapbook page about my dramatic morning rituals, blending coffee, newspapers, and the chaos of getting ready.
What's in my bag? A flatlay collage of my art journals and essentials, a portable universe of creative chaos.
The art of carrying my life in a tote. A graphic self-portrait celebrating the essentials I carry for my city explorations.
About My Digital Scrapbook
My scrapbook process isn't about clean, perfect grids, it’s about the messy love letter. I layer high-resolution street captures with typography and found textures, transforming everyday moments into a narrative piece. Whether it’s a quiet café hop or a chaotic heritage walk, I build these frames to feel like you’re peeling back layers of the city's personality.
Think of this as a digital archive of the unplanned. When I work on a Mixed Media Visual Storyboard, I’m not just handing over standard JPEGs. I take the photos, the Instax prints, and the sensory notes I’ve gathered during our session and assemble them into a collage that reflects the actual 'vibe' of the day.
How I Build a Scrapbook
- Layering: I use elements of graphic design and photography to build depth. If we capture a coffee date, I don't just show the cup; I include the texture of the table, the light on the wall, and the scribbles in your notebook.
- Mixed Media: I combine digital mobile photography with analog Instax Wide/Mini film. This friction between the crisp digital shot and the soft, organic film print is where the magic happens.
- Visual Storyboarding: This isn't a gallery; it’s a sequence. I arrange the final assets to look like pages torn from an art journal, perfect for telling a brand story or capturing a personal travel memory.
My goal is to capture the 'roz ke rang' (daily colours) of your life. If you have an event or a personal project that deserves more than a standard portrait, this is how we tell that story.
Ruchit Dhakite
I'm Ruchit. I don't just shoot; I document the poetry in the 'desi' chaos of our streets. This scrapbook style is how I share my love for Mumbai's lived-in corners and the stories hidden in plain sight.
