I believe the magic of mehendi starts long before it touches your skin. Here is a look at how I mix, strain, and craft my organic henna cones from scratch.

I take quality control very seriously. Here, you can see how I test a fresh batch of henna powder and oils from my supplier to ensure it meets my standards for a vibrant stain.

This is the first step of my henna mixing process. I start with pure, organic henna powder and carefully mix in sugar and water before letting it rest for dye release.

For an ultra smooth paste that never clogs the cone, I strain the entire batch through a stocking. This step is crucial for achieving those fine, delicate lines in henna art.

This is the perfect henna consistency I always aim for. The paste is glossy, smooth, and elastic, which makes application a dream.

Look at that smooth, rich henna paste. I mix every batch by hand to ensure it has this perfect, creamy texture, which is nothing like chocolate but just as delightful.

Every order is freshly hand mixed. This video shows me preparing a small batch for an urgent order and then checking the consistency to ensure it creates perfect lines before dispatch.

I love the craft of making henna cones from scratch. This video shows my technique for rolling cellophane sheets into perfectly shaped cones, ready to be filled.

Here is a quick tutorial on how I fill and seal my henna cones. A neat seal is important to prevent any leakage and keep the paste fresh.

This video demonstrates how to properly seal a henna cone. It's important to store organic cones in the freezer and seal them tightly to keep them fresh for up to six months.

About From Powder to Paste: My Handmade Process

Many people ask why I insist on nylon-straining my paste. It is because even the finest henna powder contains microscopic grit that can clog the cone tip. By pushing every batch through a stocking, I ensure a perfectly smooth, elastic texture that flows effortlessly, so you never get interrupted while drawing those delicate bridal details.

I start with triple-sifted Body Art Quality (BAQ) henna powder sourced from Sojat, Rajasthan, which provides the signature vibrant stain. I mix this with natural sugar and therapeutic-grade essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus—never chemicals. Because my paste is 100% organic without preservatives, it is perishable. That is why I do not keep ready stock; every batch is mixed, rolled, and sealed only after you place your order.

The 'dye release' process is critical for a deep stain. After mixing, the paste rests so the lawsone content releases its color. I monitor this stage closely, adjusting the water and consistency until it reaches that signature glossy, stringy texture. If the consistency is off, the lines will not be crisp, and the stain will lack intensity.

Once the paste is perfect, I roll each cellophane cone by hand and double-seal the edges.

A Note on Storage: Since I do not use chemical stabilizers, my cones are just like fresh food. They must go straight into your freezer the moment they arrive. Keep them frozen to lock in the stain quality for up to six months. When you are ready to use them, just thaw at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Hi, I am the person behind the cones! I am absolutely obsessed with the chemistry of henna, and I love sharing my process with you. I mix, roll, and test every single batch myself to make sure it is exactly what I would want to use on my own hands.
