Project Showcase: Between Two Trees
A home is a conversation between architecture and the land. By working around two existing trees, I created a sanctuary where every corner breathes with the rhythm of nature.
The sacred worship space in 'Between Two Trees', thoughtfully integrated into the landscape and separated by a screen of wooden fins.
I used bricks imported from Bali for this feature wall. The way the sun hits them adds a beautiful warmth and texture, enhancing the tropical feel of the home.
The indoor courtyard opens up completely to a private garden, merging the interior and exterior spaces into one cohesive, peaceful environment.
The glorious trees that give this project its name and its soul. The architecture was designed to honor and frame them.
This bathroom is designed to feel like a private resort spa, with a skylight, natural materials like stone and wood, and an integrated planter.
A glimpse into the open-air bathroom, where a wall of textured terracotta bricks and lush plants create a sanctuary for relaxation.
The family living area on the ground floor, centered around the traditional courtyard, provides a comfortable and connected space for the senior members of the family.
About this collection
Working around these two trees was not just a design choice, it was the structural baseline. We mapped their root systems and canopy spread before the first sketch, allowing the house to grow into the voids between them. This approach forced us to rethink traditional layouts, creating a home that feels less like a building and more like an extension of the garden.
For me, the success of this project lies in how the house fades into the background. We used materials that speak the same language as the outdoors. The feature walls, crafted with bricks imported from Bali, soak up the morning sun and cast long, textured shadows that shift throughout the day. It is these details that make a space feel alive.
My 'Technoarchitecture' philosophy is not about high-tech gadgets, but about a deep, technical respect for the land. We designed the courtyard as the spiritual axis of the home. It is a central, open-to-sky void that brings light into the deepest parts of the floor plan, ensuring no room feels trapped or dark. The Chettinad pillars and water features here are intentional, grounding the modern structure in traditional warmth.
Every decision was made to enhance the user experience. The bathroom is not just a utility space, but a private resort experience with skylights and integrated planters. We kept the floor plans open, allowing the breeze to move freely through the living and dining areas. This is not just a house; it is a 'Kanasu'—a dream designed to be lived in, where the indoors and outdoors are inseparable.
