About Bridal & Figurative Mehndi Art
Drawing faces is often the most intimidating part for students. I start by breaking down the anatomy, focusing on the arch of the eyebrow, the curve of the jawline, and the proportion of the eyes, before you ever touch a cone to skin. Once you master the underlying structure, the detailing like jewelry and clothing folds follows naturally.
My advanced bridal and figure masterclass is a 4-week journey for those who want to move beyond basic patterns and start creating art that tells a story. This course is designed to give you the confidence to handle high-pressure wedding orders where clients expect precision.
What we cover
We dive deep into the technical side of figurative work. You will learn to draw the anatomy of both bride and groom faces from front and side profiles. We then build up the scene with traditional motifs, including the Doli, the Barat procession, and religious figures. A major part of this class is learning 3D shading, which creates depth and makes the figures pop off the skin.
The technical details
It is not just about the picture; it is about how it fits on the hand. We practice layout management, specifically how to connect elbow-to-fingertip designs so they flow. You will also learn complex fillers like fine-line netting and symmetrical grids to frame your main figures. I also teach speed training techniques to help you handle real-world wedding orders more efficiently.
How I teach
Mehndi requires patience, or as I call it, sabar. We learn in small groups at my studio in Goregaon, Mumbai, and across Pune. Every class involves a live demo where you can see my technique up close. We start with paper practice to perfect your lines before moving to skin. By the end of the 4 weeks, you will have completed a practical assessment and earned a certificate, marking your transition from a learner to a professional artist.
