Most offices feel like endless rows of desks, but my favorite part of building these spaces is creating the 'collisions'—the coffee pantry where ideas actually happen or the breakout nook with the red phone booth. If you’re looking to squeeze every square foot for productivity, we’ll do that, but I’ll also carve out the spots where your team actually connects, talks, and recharges.
I don't believe in cookie-cutter offices. When I walk into a cold, empty shell, I don't see a layout—I see a culture waiting to be built. My approach to office interior design is hands-on and pretty relentless. Whether it’s the YOUNION office in Bengaluru or a compact startup hub, I start with the same question: how does your team move?
The Anatomy of a Modern Office
I love mixing textures that shouldn't work but do. Think about exposed industrial ceilings softened by acoustic baffles, or raw concrete reception desks contrasted with warm, herringbone wood floors.
- Collaborative Zones: I prioritize these. A huddle room isn't just for meetings; it's for culture. Using bold wall graphics, comic-book art, or even vintage movie posters, we give these zones personality so they aren't just 'the meeting room.'
- Lighting That Matters: I stay away from harsh, flat lighting. I use a mix of linear LEDs, track spots for art, and low-hanging pendants in break areas to create a sense of rhythm throughout the day.
- Zoning for Focus and Fun: We need to balance the energy. I create quiet pods with acoustic glass for the deep work, and vibrant pantries for the noise. It’s all about zoning—giving people a choice in where they work.
