About this collection
Renovation is rarely as simple as a fresh coat of paint. Whether we are stripping back plaster to expose brickwork in a century-old Mysore villa or retrofitting a 20-year-old Bangalore apartment, we focus on the structural bones first. Expect us to suggest significant layout changes or structural steel reinforcement if it means gaining the light and volume your home currently lacks.
Our approach to renovation is an act of remembering. We treat an existing building as a conversation between its past life and your future needs.
Why Renovation is a Puzzle
When we take on a restoration project, we do not simply patch cracks. We investigate. We look for hidden potential in dark corners and odd angles. Often, this requires a complete overhaul of the utility lines—replacing plumbing and electrical systems that have outlived their safety standards. We treat the original structure with respect, which means we work carefully around load-bearing walls and cherished architectural features, even while we introduce steel reinforcement to open up floor plans.
Our Process
- The Diagnostic Phase: We start by assessing what is salvageable. Sometimes, this means keeping the teak rafters and refreshing the lime plaster. Other times, it means removing non-essential partitions to let sunlight flood into spaces that haven't seen it for decades.
- Structural Integrity: We do not compromise on safety. If we are cutting a slab for a new skylight or adding height to a room, we use structural steel to ensure the building remains sound.
- Modernizing the Flow: A 1940s home often has rooms that feel isolated. We reimagining the layout to connect indoor spaces with gardens and verandahs, making the home feel as expansive as it is intimate.
Whether you are dealing with a heritage bungalow in Mysore or a cramped apartment in Koramangala, our goal remains the same: to create a space that feels both grounded in time and ready for the life you live today.
Tall Storeys Collaborative
We are Kiran and Apoorva. We view an old, tired wall not as a failure, but as a chance to rewrite the story of a home. We balance each other perfectly: I chase the light and the sketch, while Apoorva makes sure the engineering and timelines actually hold up.
