Think you can't sing? Think again. At Swarmaanas, we teach expressive singing for happiness, not technical perfection. Whether you are 3 or 80, if you can speak, you can sing.

In this video, I talk in Marathi about the importance of expressive singing over chasing technical perfection. I explain how focusing on emotion and proper breathing can make anyone a captivating performer, even if their sur and taal aren't perfect.

Here, I share my personal journey, from being compared to my famous mother, singer Uttara Kelkar, to creating Swarmaanas. I explain why I started this institute for everyone, especially those who believe they can't sing.

What is a music workshop? Here I explain how our workshops are a perfect 'trial class' to experience our teaching methods. We cover breathing techniques, voice modulation, and expressive singing to give you a real feel of our classes.

This is the first episode of my series, "Gaana Aaye Ya Na Aaye, Gaana Chaahiye!" (Whether you can sing or not, you must sing!). I share my firm belief that with the right training, anyone who can speak can also learn to sing for their own happiness.

About My Philosophy: "Anybody Can Sing"

My approach is simple: we prioritize breathing and expression over rigid technical mastery. Most people struggle because they try to mimic established singers, which leads to frustration and vocal strain. Whether you are in our Dadar studio or joining online, we work on how you breathe and how you express emotion, helping you find your unique voice rather than a copy of someone else's.

Music is not just about hit songs and perfect pitch; it is about release and expression. Many of my students come to me with a belief that their voice isn't 'good' enough because they have been told to sound like professional playback singers. That is where the pressure starts. At Swarmaanas, we break that myth.

Whether you join my weekend introductory workshops in Dadar or our regular weekly classes, you won't find a judgemental environment. We start by unlearning that rigid, performance-only mindset. My teaching philosophy, 'Gaana Aaye Ya Na Aaye, Gaana Chaahiye!' (Whether you know how to sing or not, you must sing!), focuses on practical tools:

  • Breathing is the Foundation: You cannot sing well if you breathe shallowly from the chest. We teach deep, diaphragmatic breathing that supports your vocal cords and prevents strain.
  • Expression Over Perfection: Even if your sur (melody) and taal (rhythm) aren't perfect, a song delivered with genuine emotion connects with an audience far more than a technically flawless but empty performance.
  • Voice Modulation: We teach you how to bring texture and feeling to your singing, making your performance your own, not a copy of someone else.

We offer sessions for all, from hobbyists and children to those looking for music therapy. If you have been hesitant about joining a class because you feel you lack a 'musical voice', understand that singing is a skill, not a genetic gift. My job is to help you find your unique sound and enjoy the act of singing. You don't need to be a classical expert to start; you just need the willingness to show up and enjoy yourself.

Namaskar! I am Manasi Kelkar Tambe. For 23 years, I have been teaching singing to those who thought they weren't 'good enough'—even the ones who think they have no voice. I don't look for flawless singing; I look for the joy in your expression. I am here to help you sing from the heart, not for the stage.
