Strength, Speed & Agility Training for Badminton
A powerful smash starts with explosive footwork and core strength. My conditioning programs combine on-court drills with off-court fitness to build complete, tournament-ready athletes.
This is the hard work behind the scenes. My players build explosive strength and agility through off-court exercises like these hurdle jumps.
Agility ladders are a fundamental part of my training for young players. These drills improve foot speed, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness.
Training isn't confined to the court. Here, my players are doing outdoor cone drills to improve agility and indoor floor exercises for core strength.
A day at the academy involves both on-court and off-court training. This collage shows players doing outdoor running drills and indoor badminton practice.
Nothing is impossible. A young player trains on agility hurdles, and the result is him standing proudly with his coach and medals.
Consistency is the key to success. A player works on his footwork with an agility ladder, a drill we do regularly to build speed and precision.
Practice makes you perfect. A player builds lower body strength with weighted squats, and the result is a group of champions holding their trophies.
This is a full-body workout session. My players use kettlebells, barbells, and other equipment to build the strength required for high-level badminton.
Grind. This short clip shows a player's feet moving quickly through an agility ladder, a simple but crucial exercise for developing badminton footwork.
Do you know how to do double skipping? Rope skipping is a key part of our warm-up and conditioning, improving stamina and footwork for all my players.
About Strength, Speed & Agility
We don't just run laps. My conditioning sessions integrate agility ladder work, hurdle jumps, and explosive plyometrics directly linked to badminton-specific movements. Expect kettlebell circuits and core drills designed to build the stability needed for a clean, injury-free jump smash.
Badminton is 70% footwork and 30% grit. If your feet aren't moving, you're already losing. At my academies across Delhi NCR—from Rohini to Gurgaon—we prioritize the off-court conditioning that separates recreational players from competitive athletes.
Why Conditioning Matters
A fast hand means nothing if you can't reach the shuttle. My program breaks down badminton fitness into three pillars:
- Speed & Agility: We use agility ladders, skipping, and cone drills to rewire your footwork. You learn to change direction instantly, minimizing the time between your split-step and your lunge.
- Explosive Power: Your jump smash relies on lower-body power. We implement weighted squats, hurdle jumps, and box jumps to generate the force required to dominate at the net and the backcourt.
- Endurance & Stability: Through full-body workouts using kettlebells and resistance ropes, we build the core strength that prevents injuries and keeps you moving until the final point of the match.
Whether you are a 4-year-old building initial coordination or a pro preparing for a state-level championship, the 'no excuses' rule applies. We utilize indoor, air-conditioned halls for all conditioning sessions, ensuring you can train year-round without weather interruptions. Come ready to sweat, leave with better footwork.
Surjit Singh Badminton Academy
I’m Surjit, and my courts are for those who want to sweat, not socialize. I don't care if you're a kid picking up a racket for the first time or a pro chasing national titles; the grind is the same. Show up with the mindset to work, and I’ll build the athlete you want to be.
