About Modern & Chic Studio Styling
My studio process starts long before the lights turn on. I spend time on garment prep, steaming, and pinning to ensure that what looks minimal in a final shot actually fits perfectly on camera. It is about balancing a sharp, clean silhouette with the natural energy of the model.
When you are shooting a lookbook or an e-commerce campaign, the background and the props need to support the clothes, not distract from them. That is where my approach to modern, chic studio styling comes in. I focus on creating a visual dialogue between the garment and the viewer.
My Approach to Studio Shoots
- Concept First: Before we even look at a rack, I create a moodboard. We define the color palette, lighting references, and the specific 'vibe' we are chasing. This keeps the team focused throughout the 8-hour shoot day.
- Garment-First Styling: My job is to make the product the hero. Whether it's an off-shoulder top or a tailored pantsuit, I style to highlight the garment's USP (Unique Selling Point) using minimal jewelry and accessories that don't overwhelm the look.
- Dynamic Team Direction: A studio is a controlled environment, but it should never feel stiff. I guide models on movement and posing to capture dynamic shots that show how the fabric falls and moves. I also collaborate closely with the photographer to ensure the camera angles flatter the silhouette.
