Tired of screen time? Come get your hands muddy. My pottery sessions for families and kids in Mumbai are all about slowing down, making a mess, and walking away with something you actually made together.

This is your sign to start pottery as a hobby. Here are snippets of Stuti during her 10-session course, from her first day to beaming with her finished glazed ceramics. It's a journey of clay, curiosity, and creative expression.

Happiness is claying together. When this family decided to try pottery, they discovered a new way to connect, laugh, and create as a team. Family workshops are a fantastic way to make memories.

A young artist completely absorbed in painting his creation at my weekend pottery retreat. I provide all the materials and guidance for kids to let their imagination run wild.

A Mother's Day surprise. Shrishti planned a special pottery workshop for her mom, Anju, giving them a chance to create side-by-side and make something beautiful together.

A family portrait, pottery style. This family joined one of my ceramic sculpting workshops and had a wonderful time getting their hands dirty and making art together.

Watch a piece go from a simple lump of clay to a unique, star-themed ceramic bowl. It's always a delight to see the pride on a young potter's face when they see their finished work.

You're never too young or too old to try a new craft. This young participant is learning how to use botanical imprints to create a beautiful, nature-inspired platter.

It's easy to get away from screens when your hands are muddy. This young potter is focused on carving details into her bowl, a perfect weekend activity for kids and adults alike.

The pure delight of seeing your glazed and fired ceramic artwork for the first time. This young student proudly shows off the sheep sculpture she made in the studio.

Snapshots from a day full of art and laughter at my sculpting workshop and pop-up stall. It was wonderful to see so many kids and families stop by to play with clay and take a piece of art home.

About Fun for Family & Kids

Here is the reality of the workshop: it gets messy, and that is the point. We focus on hand-building techniques like pinching and coiling, so there is no pottery wheel to worry about. You are not just watching a demo. You will each have your own workstation with tools and clay, so everyone from the youngest child to the adults can walk away with their own piece.

At Studio Gariffiti in Powai, we ditch the screens for a few hours. Whether it is a weekend morning or an after-school activity, the goal is simple: connect through clay. We avoid the complexity of the potter's wheel, which can be frustrating for beginners, especially children. Instead, we use hand-building, which is intuitive, tactile, and very forgiving. A five-year-old can pinch a pot just as well as an adult, and that is where the real bonding happens.

What you need to know

  • The Mess: Wear comfortable clothes you do not mind getting clay on. We provide aprons, but it is an earthy process.
  • The Timeline: Your creations need to dry, be bisque-fired, glazed, and glaze-fired. This takes about 3 to 5 weeks. I handle all the technical kiln firing and glazing for you, ensuring your pieces are food-safe and waterproof when you collect them.
  • The Vibe: This is not a formal class. It is a space to relax, talk, and create. If a child wants to make a bowl for their cereal and you want to make a planter for your desk, go for it.

Hi, I am Garima. I started this studio because I wanted a space where people could slow down and get their hands dirty. I love seeing families swap screen time for clay time, as it is pure magic when you see a child realize they can turn a lump of earth into a real bowl.
