Architecture Design Process and Construction Details
Architecture is as much about the making as the final form. This collection documents our methodology, from initial structural diagrams to the physical assembly of materials on-site.
The conceptual diagram for the Lucknow penthouse's integrated ceiling and partition system. This drawing shows the geometric logic of the wooden beams, which run seamlessly from the ceiling down the walls to carve out different functional zones.
The wooden framework for the 'lantern' partitions being installed at the Lucknow penthouse. This behind-the-scenes shot reveals the underlying structure that supports the backlit Chikankari fabric panels.
A detail of the ceiling structure in the Lucknow penthouse during construction. The image shows the interplay between the exposed concrete slab and the custom wooden beams that define the geometry of the space.
A prototype of the backlit Chikankari panels for the Lucknow penthouse. This test allowed us to study the quality of light and the visibility of the embossed pattern before final installation, ensuring the desired atmospheric effect.
A work-in-progress shot of the stained pine wood paneling and brass-trimmed shelving for a Gurgaon residence. This image captures the project mid-installation, showing the raw materials and craftsmanship before the final finishing touches.
A craftsman at work on the vertical wood paneling for the Gurgaon residence. This photo celebrates the skill and manual labor involved in executing our custom designs, highlighting the human element in our architectural process.
The steel skeleton for a rooftop pergola under construction. This image shows the raw strength and geometric precision of the steel I-beams and supports before the finishing layers are added.
About this collection
We approach construction with the same intensity as our conceptual phase. Whether we are calibrating the geometric logic of wooden ceiling beams for a Lucknow penthouse or welding steel skeletons for rooftop pergolas in Delhi, we maintain strict oversight of the assembly. These images show the raw mechanics of our work, where we test structural integrity and material performance before finishing the space.
Our Design Methodology
Our design process relies on continuous prototyping. For the Lucknow penthouse project, we created mockups of backlit Chikankari panels to study how light would diffuse through the intricate patterns. This testing phase allows us to refine the integration of traditional craft within modern structural systems, ensuring the atmospheric effect is precise.
Material Assembly and Honesty
We favor honesty in materials. You will see us working with exposed plywood, mild steel, and teak. In our Gurgaon residential project, the rhythm of vertical wooden slats was calculated to shift perspectives as one moves through the corridor. This requires careful alignment on-site, which we handle to ensure the finished wall functions as both structure and visual filter.
Structural Logic
The steel pergolas and modular systems we build are designed for flexibility and strength. We document these skeletal phases to show the anatomy of our frameworks. By revealing the joints and the bare bones of our projects, we provide transparency into how a space is formed, stabilized, and ultimately made habitable.
Studio Array
We are Studio Array. We view architecture as a conversation between materials, light, and the human scale. Our focus remains on how a space feels, using raw textures and honest structures to create environments that evolve with the light throughout the day.
