About Paint on Canvas: Acrylics & Watercolors
We focus on real progress, not just theory. In every session, you get direct, one-on-one help at your easel, whether you are learning to mix your first batch of acrylics or struggling to control watercolor bleeds. You leave with a finished piece every time, which means you walk out knowing exactly what went into your work.
Understanding the Mediums
Many of our students come in unsure of whether to start with acrylics or watercolors. We find that acrylics are often the best starting point for those who want to build confidence quickly. Because acrylics are opaque and dry relatively fast, you can paint over mistakes and layer colors without fuss. It is a forgiving medium for beginners.
Watercolors, on the other hand, are about working with the transparency of the paint. They require a different mindset, one where you learn to plan your light and dark areas before the brush touches the paper. We teach you how to manage the water-to-pigment ratio, how to use wet-on-wet techniques for soft backgrounds, and how to control edges for precision.
What Happens in a Workshop
These sessions are designed to be practical. You do not need to bring supplies; we have the easels, sheets, paints, and brushes ready. We start with a live demonstration where I show you the technique, and then you spend the remainder of the session at your own canvas.
Our classes are not about sitting in rows and silently copying. It is a social, often messy process. You will see other students working on their own compositions, asking questions, and experimenting. This environment is intentional. We believe you learn more by seeing how others solve the same creative problems you are facing.
