Our Sustainable Architectural Design Philosophy
Architecture is a conversation between the land, the materials, and the people who will live there. Here is a look at the values that shape every home we build.
This article captures my core belief that a home should be like "frozen music," reflecting the client's life. It discusses my commitment to using local materials like Delhi stone and wood, and the importance of total surrender to the creative process.
An "Architect-Speak" interview where I had the chance to share my design philosophy. I discuss my love for geometry and physics, and my belief that the best projects come from a deep, collaborative relationship with the client.
About The Architect's Vision
My design process does not start with a blueprint, it starts with a conversation. I spend time understanding how you live, analyzing the sun path of your site, and seeing how we can use local materials like stone and earth blocks to build something that feels natural to its surroundings. This ensures your home functions efficiently, staying cool and bright without needing excessive artificial energy.
Architecture as Frozen Music
I often describe architecture as frozen music. Just as a song needs to resonate with the listener, a home must hum with the stories and dreams of the people living in it. My role is not to impose a fixed style on your property, but to listen to what you need and help shape a space that fits both your life and the land it sits on.
The Bioclimatic Approach
Your home should work with the weather, not fight it. Our approach focuses on bioclimatic design. We prioritize:
- Passive Cooling: Using earth-sheltered rooms, wind catchers, and skylights to keep interiors cool in the Delhi heat.
- Natural Light: Careful orientation to bring in sunlight while avoiding excessive heat gain.
- Material Honesty: We prefer raw, expressive materials like Delhi quartzite, compressed stabilized earth blocks, and wood. These materials age beautifully and keep construction costs practical.
Why We Build This Way
We avoid heavy machinery whenever possible, favoring hand-made, local building techniques. By sourcing materials and artisans from around our region, we minimize the carbon footprint of your construction while supporting local skills. Mistakes are a natural part of the creative process, and we embrace them as part of building something real, personal, and durable. Whether you are planning a residential green home or a unique institutional space, the goal remains the same: to create joy, not just buildings.
