Turning gloomy basements and awkward corners into vibrant green zones. We use hardy, low-light tolerant plants to add life to the parts of your home that need it most.

This basement planter is a testament to choosing the right plant for the right place. We used a mix of low light tolerant foliage plants, including Cordyline and Dieffenbachia, to create a vibrant garden that thrives with only light from a skylight.

An indoor atrium can feel empty, but we see it as a canvas for calm. By placing elegant Dypsis palms in large terracotta pots, we created a simple yet powerful green statement that brings a relaxing, natural element indoors.

About Thriving in Tricky Spaces

Dealing with a basement or a dim corner often means skipping flowers, which usually need more light. We focus on mixing textures, pairing the glossy, broad leaves of a Dieffenbachia with the feathery fronds of a palm, to create a lush, layered look that thrives in low light without needing constant sunshine.

This living partition is one of my favorite projects. We used a mix of trailing and upright plants to create a beautiful, green screen that divides the space while still feeling open and airy. It's a functional and stunning way to bring the outdoors in.28

A Zamioculcas zamiifolia, or ZZ plant, in a tall, textured ceramic pot. Its placement next to a modern credenza and a bold, tropical-print wall shows how I use plants to enhance interior design.5

This is a semi-indoor garden that connects the home's interior with the outdoors. During the day, it's a bright, sunlit space with a natural lawn and stone pathway, viewed through large glass walls.9
The same semi-indoor garden at night. With carefully placed uplighting and ambient light from the house, the space transforms into a magical, serene landscape that can be enjoyed 24/7.
Why limit grass to the outdoors? In this unique courtyard, I installed a wall-to-wall artificial lawn to create an indoor picnic area. It's a surprising and delightful way to make your home feel green.
This courtyard design is all about symmetry and tranquility. I used a central water feature, stepped planters, and a striking Frangipani tree to create a formal, resort-like feel between two buildings.
