Our Favorite Garden Transformations
We believe a garden is a living, breathing community. Here is a selection of our favorite projects, where we have worked to create wild, thriving green spaces in the heart of the city.
We believe even a city terrace can feel like a wild, tropical escape. For this Bangalore home, we created a dense plant community where every plant supports the others. Notice the hanging ferns and layered foliage that create a complete sensory experience, all while using individual pots.
A closer look at how we paint with plants. We mix diverse leaf shapes, colors, and textures, like the broad Homalomena, variegated Song of India, and deep red Cordyline. This ecological approach creates a resilient indoor garden that is more than just a collection of plants; it's a living system.
This planter is in a basement, receiving light only from a skylight above. We solved this low light challenge by choosing sturdy indoor plants like Dieffenbachia and indoor palms, using their vibrant foliage to bring life and color to a space where flowers might not thrive.
Designing for an air conditioned cafe presents unique challenges. For Araku Coffee in Bangalore, we integrated a lush planter alongside the seating, using plants like Ficus Lyrata and Begonia to soften the modern interior and create a welcoming, natural atmosphere for guests.
This atrium design shows how simplicity can create a profound sense of calm. We used tall Dypsis palms in terracotta pots against a white brick wall to create a clean, green, and introspective space, with a traditional brass uruli bowl to add a touch of Kerala's tranquil spirit.
About Featured
When we design these spaces, we do not just pick plants, we build plant communities that support one another. By layering species with different light needs and growth habits, we create self-sustaining pockets of green that actually require less maintenance and watering than a standard arrangement. It is the difference between a static collection of pots and a living, breathing ecosystem right in your living room or office.
Every space we transform, whether it is a bustling cafe like Araku Coffee or a quiet, low-light basement, presents a unique puzzle. Our approach centers on analyzing the environment first. We look at sun direction, airflow, and usage patterns before selecting a single leaf.
The Science Behind the Style
We often use a technique we call 'community planting.' Instead of standing plants in isolation, we group them so they shade the soil and maintain humidity for each other. This is why our designs often look fuller and feel more vibrant—we are mimicking the way plants grow in the wild.
Solving for Bangalore Spaces
We frequently deal with the challenges of indoor air conditioning and fluctuating light levels.
- Basements & Low Light: We rely on sturdy, shade-loving species like Dieffenbachia and indoor palms. By contrasting broad, glossy leaves against feathery textures, we create visual drama even without flowers.
- Commercial Interiors: In places like cafes, we prioritize plants that add depth to the space without cluttering foot traffic.
- Terraces & Balconies: We use high-density planting to create green barriers, giving you privacy while blocking out the city noise.
Whether we are installing a traditional brass uruli with palms or a dense tropical corner, our goal is to bring a sense of calm to the concrete landscape of Bengaluru. We focus on resilient, low-maintenance setups that mature beautifully over time, rewarding your patience with a greener, cleaner environment.
