Meet the Teachers at Solfege Academy
We believe that behind every great student is a teacher who loves the craft. Meet our team of musicians, each bringing their own story and passion to our studio in Bandra.
A group photo of our wonderful teaching team. We believe a good teacher can inspire hope and ignite the imagination, and we are all dedicated to instilling a lifelong love of learning in our students.
This is my story. My own connection with music started with my father's vinyl collection and grew into a deep love for the piano. That emotional connection is something I strive to share with every student who walks through our doors.
Here, our teacher Rhea shares her earliest music memory of sitting at a piano with her dad. These formative experiences shape us as musicians and teachers, reminding us of the simple joy that music brings to families.
Our teacher Fay shares her musical beginnings, learning piano at age 5 with her grandpa as her mentor. This personal history of family and music is a big part of the nurturing environment we create at the academy.
For our teacher Havilah, music runs in the family. She shares how being surrounded by self-taught musicians gave her a solid foundation and how singing in a church choir taught her the meaning of practice and harmony from a young age.
Celebrating our team on Teacher's Day. We believe it is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression, and we are so grateful for the mentors who guide our students on their musical journey.
About Meet the Heart of Solfege: Our Teachers
At Solfege, we don't just teach techniques; we guide you to connect with the instrument. Our teachers come from diverse musical backgrounds, but we share a common belief: music is about expression, not just rigid practice. Whether you are a parent looking for your child's first mentor or an adult picking up the keys again, you will find a guide here who focuses on your unique musical voice rather than generic drills.
Why Our Teachers Make the Difference
Music education is often treated as a mechanical checklist. At Solfege, we approach it differently. Our team is not here to simply supervise practice sessions. We are musicians ourselves, shaped by our own childhood experiences—from learning by ear on home pianos to studying classical theory.
Our Approach
When you join us in Bandra, you are not just signing up for a slot; you are joining a community.
- Personalized Mentorship: We recognize that every student learns differently. We pair you with teachers who understand your goals, whether that is preparing for Trinity exams or simply playing jazz for leisure.
- Collaborative Learning: Our teachers frequently host workshops where students from different levels interact. This encourages peer learning, which we have found is often more effective than solo instruction alone.
- The Steinway Advantage: Our studio is equipped with original Steinway pianos. Practicing on these instruments changes how you perceive touch, dynamics, and tone, and our teachers are trained to help you make the most of that equipment.
Get to Know the Team
Our teachers are active, performing musicians. This means the advice you get is practical, grounded in real-world performance experience. We emphasize building confidence, managing stage fright, and developing an ear for harmony. If you are ready to explore your musical potential in a supportive, creative environment, we invite you to come for a session and meet us in person.
