Hair Consultation: Designing Your Routine
Great hair is not luck. It starts with an honest look at your scalp, your lifestyle, and how your hair actually behaves. Let's build a plan that works for you, not just for the salon mirror.
The conversation you should be having with your hairdresser is one that goes beyond just the style you want today. We discuss how it will grow out, how it will behave after your first wash at home, and what maintenance truly looks like for you.
A good consultation asks better questions. Not just "I want something new," but "what will still feel like me in three months?" We think about the future of your hair, ensuring your new look is sustainable and makes you feel confident long after you leave my chair.
Don't worry if you don't know the technical terms or the exact name of your last color. During our consultation, we use color swatches to find the perfect shade. A simple "something brownish" is the perfect place to start our conversation.
Life happens, and it's completely normal to go a while between haircuts. There is no judgment here. My focus is on assessing your hair's current condition and creating a plan to get it back to its healthiest state.
Please don't feel the need to wash your hair right before your appointment. Coming in with day-to-day hair helps me see its natural texture and scalp condition, which is essential for a thorough consultation. It's my job to do the washing.
My salon chair is a safe space. If you need to talk, vent, or just sit in comfortable silence, I am here for it. I listen more than I judge, because your comfort is a key part of the salon experience I want to provide.
As your hairstylist, there are things I promise not to care about, like how long it's been since your last cut or if you came in with unwashed hair. I care about creating a style that fits your life, not about you fitting into a set of rules.
About this collection
Before we pick up the scissors or open a colour tube, we look at the fundamentals. I check your scalp health, your natural curl pattern, and how your local water quality affects your hair texture. You do not need to come in with perfectly washed hair; I actually prefer seeing your natural state. This session is about diagnosing what is happening right now so we can stop guessing and start fixing.
Why a consultation matters
Most people come in asking for a style they saw online without realizing their hair structure or scalp health might not support it. In my chair, we bridge that gap. Whether it is the Senior Stylist Audit or my Founder’s Signature Consultation, the process is the same: we analyze the root cause behind your hair concerns.
What we look at
We look at your lifestyle, not just your vanity. Do you work out daily? Are you dealing with hard water in your home? Have you used box dye in the last two years? These are not just questions, they are variables that dictate what your hair needs. For example, if you have an oily scalp, washing daily might be making it worse, not better. I help you build a wash frequency plan that balances your schedule with your hair's requirements.
The long-term view
For those struggling with thinning or chronic damage, my 45-minute deep dive focuses on internal factors like nutrition and stress, and we create a 3-month roadmap to recovery. This is about honesty. If you do not need a treatment, I will tell you. If you need a specific haircut to manage your texture, we will plan it together. My goal is to ensure that after you leave, you have the knowledge to manage your hair with confidence until I see you again.
Vous Salon
I started Vous because I wanted to change how we talk about hair, moving away from trends and toward what actually keeps your hair healthy. When you sit in my chair, we do not just talk about a cut; we talk about your life, your routine, and how to make your hair your best asset every day.
