Advanced Vitiligo Treatments and Procedures
I focus on evidence-based care to restore your natural skin color. From targeted light therapy to surgical solutions, we will find the path that best suits your specific skin stability and goals.
I believe in explaining procedures clearly so you feel comfortable and informed. This video walks you through the steps of melanocyte cell transplantation, a surgical technique I use for stable vitiligo. We use your own healthy skin cells to restore color to affected patches, a method that can cover a large area and provides excellent cosmetic results.
This video demonstrates the vitiligo needling technique, a procedure I perform to transfer pigment cells from the border of a patch to its center. It is a meticulous process where a specialized needle helps initiate the repigmentation process, often used in combination with other therapies like Excimer laser.
This is our full-body Narrowband UVB phototherapy unit. It is considered a gold standard in vitiligo care, delivering targeted light to treat widespread patches. This therapy is safe and effective for both adults and children.
Phototherapy is a cornerstone of vitiligo treatment. It works by slowing the disease's progression and stimulating your skin's pigment-producing cells. I often recommend it for patients with localized vitiligo to help restore their natural skin color.
My approach to vitiligo treatment is designed to achieve an evenly toned appearance and slow the spread of depigmentation. A customized plan is key to boosting self-confidence and helping you feel better about your skin.
While vitiligo is a chronic condition, there are several effective ways to manage it. This overview shows the different treatment pathways available, from concealing products for cosmetic management to advanced therapies that replace depigmented cells with healthy ones.
About Our Advanced Vitiligo Treatments
Before we decide on any procedure, we must assess your skin stability. I always begin with a 20-minute assessment using a Wood's Lamp and dermoscopy to map the extent of depigmentation and judge your recovery potential. If your patches are stable, we might discuss surgical options like melanocyte cell transplantation. If they are still spreading, we focus on managing the activity first with medical therapy or phototherapy.
A Personal Approach to Vitiligo
Vitiligo is often misunderstood, but it is a manageable condition. My work is built on the belief that we should not just look at the skin, but at the person behind it. My clinic in Paschim Vihar and my center at Manipal Hospital in Dwarka are equipped to handle both early-stage management and advanced surgical restoration.
How We Determine Your Path
Every patient journey here follows a clear, logical structure:
- Diagnosis and Stability: We check if your condition is stable. This determines whether your skin will respond to surgical grafting or if it needs medical management first to stop the spread.
- Medical Management: For many, we start with Narrowband UVB (NB-UVB) phototherapy. It is a safe, gold-standard light therapy that I often use to halt the disease progression. For stubborn, localized spots, we utilize targeted Excimer laser therapy.
- Surgical Restoration: If your vitiligo is stable, I perform non-cultured melanocyte cell transplantation. This is a surgical process where I extract healthy pigment cells, process them, and transplant them onto the depigmented areas. We also use needling techniques to encourage pigment migration from the healthy borders into the white patches.
Why Medical Standards Matter
I believe in transparency regarding the process. Surgery is not a 'magic fix' and requires careful aftercare, including collagen dressing and specific follow-up sessions. My goal is to guide you through these steps so you know exactly what to expect. We avoid shortcuts and focus on safe, sterile, and scientific methods to give you the best possible cosmetic outcome. Whether you need a simple phototherapy session or a comprehensive surgical plan, we will build a roadmap that fits your specific needs.
